Possibly a defective model but.... November 20, 2009 A. J. Kephart (Huntsville, AL USA) I think that my model might be defective and I am returning it but thought I would leave a review anyway. I used this product twice and used the programmable function. Both times I tried to cook on low for 8-10 hours. It would switch itself back to manual mode High. I tried to use the manual mode on low and it would switch itself to high. I read the other review prior to buying this on and a few of the others had the same complaint that it would switch itself to high or warm. I will be ordering another brand. In general though it did a great job cooking the 2 dishes that I prepared, but on high....thankfully I was home both days I used to, otherwise I would have had seriously overcooked food.
Great Product November 20, 2009 W. Price (NC) We have used the Hamilton Beach Set 'n Forget Programmable Slow Cooker now for a month and can't imagine not having it now. We replaced a ancient Rival that worked fine but looked it's age and was a pain to clean and store. The programmable controller on the Set 'n Forget is very easy to operate and the horizontal oval design lets you lay a chicken or roast flat. The exterior finish, lid and removable pot are easy to clean. We have never had a programming issue or unknown failure to cook as stated in another review although we haven't experienced an extended power failure while cooking. We have had a power blip or two which didn't cause a loss of programming. The unit confirms that it is cooking immediately after you enter your program. The low temp "keep warm" feature is very nice. I hope it lasts as long as the Rival.
So far I love this! November 20, 2009 S. Blasland I have had this slow cooker for a few months now and love it so far. It is also really nice looking. I will be buying at least one as a Christmas gift.
Awesome programmable slow cooker November 19, 2009 S. Shivers (Phoenix, AZ) I've had many slow cookers over the years and this is by far the best one EVER. The only thing that would make it absolutely perfect is if you could program what time to start cooking.
Awesome addition to our kitchen! November 18, 2009 Mrs. S. L. Sochoka (Moscow, PA, USA) Our previous crock pot kicked, so we were in the market for a new one. I liked the looks of this one, plus had read good reviews about it, so we tried it. We have been using it since the day it arrived and are thrilled with it! There are so many options with regard to how to cook--by temperature control or your traditional low/high settings. I love that it switches to warm at the end of a cooking cycle. I love even more the seal around the lid and the clamps on the side of the lid--no more spills in transit!
My husband loves it too. He calls it "The Crockinator," because he said it decimates the competition. LOL!
In plain terms, it works well--very well--and we have enjoyed whatever we've cooked in it so far: chili, roast beef, porketta...all have been succulent and delicious. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a versatile slow cooker. It makes a wonderful addition to any kitchen.
