After trying many "air-tight" containers and'd almost given up, I decided to give Oxo POP a shot. The POP lid is definitely a lot more user friendly than many of the "air-tight" container on the market. Unfortunately, ants can still get through. Back to zip-locs again...

I purchased one of these OXO food storage containers at a local store a month ago, mostly because it was the only one I could find that was made with BPA/PVC/phthalate-free plastic. I am back on Amazon.com's website today to buy more of these OXO containers. The one I bought a month ago for coffee storage is used everyday and still looks new, no scuff marks or scratches. I notice no difference in the freshness of the coffee from beginning to end. The container is easy to open and hold with my arthritic hands. The top comes apart easily if you want to give it a thorough washing, top dishwasher safe, too! This plastic will not leach into your food, which is the main reason I purchased this item. One-finger fun, great design, high quality product September 4, 2009

Once you play w/ these lids you'll be hooked. Very good quality & great (modular) design. I esp enjoy the ONE-FINGER EASE of the POP top lids. No muscle at all, no struggling w/ both hands or burping anything. The multi-piece sets come w/ a swell little tri-fold insert that shows all the different sizes w/ their measurements & how they fit w/ each other when stacked. NOTE the simple steps where it shows how the lids COME APART for cleaning. You'd never be able to get all the soap water out if not. Instructions also say that these containers are intended for DRY FOOD storage & NOT for the microwave or dishwasher (except for the silicone gaskets), probably due to the metal spring in the lid & to protect the shape of the plastic parts. I rather doubt the sturdy clear bottoms would have a problem in the dishwasher, however, they cost enough that you may not wanna risk it. If you do, just be sure not to use super-heated water or the heated drying cycle. The lower half of the lid below the gasket seal is so clean & smooth anyway, you barely need to wipe them off if you're only storing such NON-sugary/salty/powdery/smelly products, such as dry pasta or beans. Those look the 'prettiest' in them anyway. lol
