Good Peppermill, but Expensive September 12, 2009 Jessica F. Dailey I originally bought it because I read Alton Brown's opinion of it in Alton Brown's Gear For Your Kitchen. I was hesitant because of the high price, but I needed a peppermill and I trust his judgment in cooking gear, especially after reading his rationale behind his recommendation, so I went ahead and bought it. I was not disappointed! This peppermill has a high capacity, is easy to grind, and grinds a lot of peppercorns very quickly and with little effort. If it turns out to be durable and lasts me a while, then I will consider it well worth the high price. I really like this peppermill - highly recommended if you're willing to pay for it.
Mine's been awesome for years... August 2, 2009 James R (Carrollton, Georgia United States) Bought one from a Mohotta Mobetta mail catalog back in the good ole pre-internet days after getting in my first house. I have used it regularly for many years now (15 yrs? cant remember exactly) and it still works like new, which is to say very well indeed. Out of curiosity I recently did an internet search to see if they are still made, and glad to see they are. Mohotta doesn't have them any longer, but fortunately they are findable. I noticed the new white salt grinder with nylon grinding mechanism and will be purchasing one to complement the magnum pepper mill. I honestly can't speak to how my model compares with the newer ones, but if reviews are an indication it is still a top of the line product. It looks identical and has same specs as the current magnums. The diameter makes getting a good grip easy. If you hold it vertically, gripping the lower half of the mill, below the fill hole, and twist the domed top, you shouldn't experience too much in the way of the fill hole opening and spillage. I haven't had that happen a single time in all these years. I believe it also has a lifetime warranty if you do happen to get a faulty one. If you are interested in a grinder that offers maximum performance, but are not overly concerned with asthetics (It ain't ugly but....) this is what you are looking for. As the description by Mohotta used to say "Nothing outgrinds a Magnum!"
Utility AND Aesthetics May 23, 2009 Kalymnos Summer (Atlanta, GA USA) This pepper mill works better than any I've ever had. Unlike the old-fashioned wooden peppermills, you won't have to work so hard...a couple of twists and you're done and just the right grind-particle, too (not too corse, not too fine). I highly recommend this pepper mill.
Pepper mill March 10, 2009 Linda J. Rine (Ohio) I love my peppermill. It grinds the pepper easily, far better than my previous one.
