Amazon.com Review Keep your leftovers chilled or frozen in these durable glass containers with plastic lids. The clear glass lets you see at a glance what's inside, and the stackability factor helps you neatly store dried pasta, cereal, and other items on your shelf. When you're ready to reheat those leftovers, bring to room temperature then warm in the oven or microwave. Pyrex glass is nonporous, so it won't stain or absorb food odors. And, unlike plastic containers, glass won't emit harmful chemicals during microwave use. This 14-piece storage set consists of seven round glass bowls: one large seven-cup; two medium-size four-cup; and four handy two-cup (great for lunches). Each has its own seal-tight, blue plastic lid. Incredibly durable as long as sudden changes in temperature are avoided, Pyrex glassware is safe for the oven, microwave, freezer, refrigerator, and dishwasher, and even looks good serving at the table. Please avoid using the lids in the microwave and oven, and wash by hand or on the dishwasher's top rack. Pyrex covers the glass bowls with a two-year warranty, and the lids with a one-year warranty. Pyrex glass is made in the USA. --Ann Bieri
Product Description Eliminate the guesswork about what's lurking in your fridge with these convenient glass storage units by Pyrex. It's a scientific fact that leftovers are far less likely to be eaten if they languish hidden. By the time someone decides to take a peek, well, let's just say it can be unnerving. Glass gives you the advantage of being able to store and reheat in the same container, and it doesn't discolor or retain odors the way plastic containers can. With many sizes to choose from you'll be able to store not only leftovers but also pre-prepared meals.

Eh . . . October 27, 2009 M. Appel (San Francisco, CA) I love pyrex for the microwave, and this set was a good deal at 19.99, but they would be better if
a) the small ones were stackable, and
b) the lids were glass.
The lids are sort of hard to get on and off, and have all the issues of plastic in the microwave.
I have some older pyrex bowls of a similar size with glass lids with little grabbable handles on the side that I just love.
Wish they still made those, they are perfect.
Sturdy, safe, tight sealing - wonderful! October 5, 2009 Jake A. (Seattle, WA) I bought these bowls over a year ago after researching the dangers of BPA leaching from hard plastic. (I am a chemist, and the case was closed for me after I talked to a reproductive biologist at Washington State University.) My main concern was getting glass containers that would seal well and wouldn't be too heavy. I often take leftovers, sometimes soupy, to work, and I wanted to throw the bowls in my backpack and run off. I also wanted a bowl I could microwave with impunity.
I'm happy to say I LOVE these bowls - they seal tightly and clean up very well. Nothing stains (even, so far, the lids). I am so happy to have quality glass - a classic material that will last a lifetime.
The cons? I do get occasional leaks from a sideways bowl in my backpack, but that happened with the plastic tupperware I had before, too. I'm actually very impressed with the seal. Also, although I had read that the lids would age and crack, so far mine look just as good as new. I do wish the bowls were lighter. Finally, I wish they wouldn't come out of the microwave so hot; I need to grab them with a cloth or some napkins when I'm at work, which I don't always have at hand. (On the other hand, the hot bowl keeps my lunch warm longer, which is good because I'm a slow eater.)
Summary? Get these bowls! They're a great product, and the typical hard plastic Tupperware-style bowl is too dangerous to use in a microwave.
A great storage solution September 21, 2009 Mom22Boys This is a great storage product. The lids stay on and the food stays fresh. I haven't had any leaking with any leftovers. I recommend this item for anyone who needs new kitchen storage containers.
Awesome product! September 12, 2009 K. Co (Dallas, TX) My wife and I have been hearing and reading a lot about the health hazard of using plastic containers to re-heat food in the microwave. So, we started looking into glass alternatives for food storage. We are very glad that we went with these because they heat more evenly in the microwave and food stays fresher longer than with plastic containers. We are extremely happy with the product!
Simple Elegance Brought to Everyday Use September 2, 2009 Mel Belle (Oahu, Hawaii) Have you ever bought a set of pots and pans? Do you own a set of matching dishes and silverware? Or is your cupboard filled with mismatched tumblers, odd plates from sets that were split when pieces were broken, and pots left over from college and relatives when you moved into your first place? Then you know how it feels to rummage around in the cupboard looking for the right lid for a plastic container. You know what a pain it is to try to cover a plastic bowl with cling wrap, only to end up using aluminum foil. Then later, transferring said leftovers into a microwave-safe bowl or plate for heating in the microwave. That said, I actually enjoy using these pyrex bowls. Even my 8-year-old daughter commented on how "pretty" they are. I feel more "grown-up" when I use these during food prep and putting away leftovers. I bought these because I wanted an alternative to plastic containers which can contain harmful chemicals, sometimes become brittle and crack when frozen, and shouldn't be used in the microwave. They even look simply elegant when used on the table as serveware--they match everything! I didn't anticipate that they would make everyday cooking feel luxurious. I think they're fantastic so far, and I would give these 5 stars, but I have a feeling that the plastic lids may not last the life of the bowls. I enjoy them so much, I even eat out of them.
Here are a few main points I wanted to list to help you decide if these are the bowls for you:
-Nesting bowls (I was able to put two of the smaller ones into the largest one.)
-Clear pyrex makes it easy to see what's inside
-Lids are a little tricky to put on, but seal tightly
-Sizes are just right for storing leftovers, which can then be reheated in the container they were stored in
-Food can also be frozen, thawed, and microwaved in the same container SAFELY
-Thick enough that they don't feel like they'll shatter if they slip out of your hands in the sink
-Not so thick and heavy that they feel cumbersome
-Don't get super hot in the microwave
-Easy to clean because of seamless construction
My only criticism is that they should've made a larger set with more pieces available through the Friday sale! Individual pieces sold at my local store are much more expensive! Aloha from Hawaii!
