the beswt ear protection I could find March 21, 2010 Glenn M. Slusser Jr. (Claremont, CA) Very satisfied with the purchase......I bough these for two reasons......I was getting ready to go to the NHRA Winternationals (Drag strip, fuels dragsters and funny cars) and I wanted hearing protection........the cars running on nitromethane emit sound 0f 150-180 decibels and the Pelter H-10A earmuffs, combined with soft foam plugs in my ears.........made it possible to be in the stands maybe 150 feet from the track , all day long, without hurting my ears and stayed very comfortable with the noise level......it was like being underwater...very quiet....I saw a few of the mechanics and track officials wearing these same earmuffs.......the other reason I bought them is because I sometimes work near large un enclosed diesel emergency generators that are about 125db, and when I am wearing the earmuffs, I can confortably stand maybe 10 feet away....again like being underwater....highly recommend them
Peltor Earmuffs March 17, 2010 Vicki (San Antonio TX) These are rated at 30 decibles and I use them in my wood shop. For the cost, these are better than those purchased at your home improvment stores. These are comfortable to wear. I would get these in a heartbeat for my woodworking friends.
Helps control my environment February 26, 2010 Brad Teare (Providence, Utah, USA) I suppose I am one of those people who needs quiet in order to create. The people next to my office frequently listen to music while working or have loud office meetings. I bought these ear muffs to control my environment. I would say that it cuts out 99% of the sounds. If there is someone talking I can hear a distant muffled garble, very indistinct and generally not bothersome at all. Occasionally I will hear a distant bass note or a drum beat depending on the type of music he is listening to.
I would guess that these muffs would significantly reduce music you might hear in an apartment situation although I haven't tested them in that environment yet. My only complaint is that after an hour or so the muffs can start to seem a bit tight (even though initially they are extremely comfortable). I occasionally have to take a break for 10 minutes or so before I put them back on. I would imagine that if I were walking around it would keep the circulation going better (I sit at a computer). If I were going to study at a loud library or other public space these would definitely allow improved concentration.
Well worth the money and much better than the extremely uncomfortable brand I bought at my local box store.
They work February 13, 2010 History buff The community I live in always has some racket, be it trucks, car stereos, hammering, doors slamming. These do the trick and are reasonably priced. I suppose the noise-canceling variety would be even better, but if you have a modest budget these will even block out the phone ringing.
You will occasionally need to take these off to let loose some suction pressure and get them comfortable again, but I have taken many a nap with them on so the comfort level is great if you sleep on your back.
Great value.
Great noise reduction for lots of uses February 6, 2010 BAM (San Diego, CA USA) I originally bought these to reduce machine noise while I was mowing the lawn or using the leaf blower. When my daughter left for college she complained about dorm noise keeping her awake at night so she brought these along with her. Now she sleeps with them every night! I know it sounds a bit crazy but it really seems to work for her and lets her fall asleep even when it is very loud. In addition she says the slight pressure on her temples from these has a calming, soothing effect,,,kind of like a gentle massage. Who would of thought....
