Product Description Give your kitchen a modern appliance with retro styling. Enjoy healthy fruit smoothies in the a.m. and less innocent beverages in the p.m. The continuous speed and pulse along with a stainless steel cutting blade will have your ingredients chopped, blended, and purEed in next to no time.
Amazon.com Powered by a 500-watt motor, this classic blender blends margaritas and smoothies, mixes soups and sauces, chops fruits and vegetables, grinds coffee beans and nuts, grates cheese and coconut, and crushes ice. The blender has a high speed and a low-speed pulse control, which can be held down for continuous action. Its 40-ounce, ribbed-and-tapered glass container fits onto Oster's distinctive beehive-shaped base, which is clad in lustrous chrome and outfitted with slip-proof rubber feet. Its stainless-steel blade-assembly removes for cleaning, and the container is calibrated in both ounces and liters. Fully assembled, the blender stands 16 inches high on a 7-1/4-inch-diameter base. With the exception of the dishwasher-safe glass container, all parts--including the plastic lid with its plastic 2-ounce measuring insert--require hand washing. The blender carries a one-year warranty against defects, and its instruction booklet includes dozens of recipes. --Fred Brack

Excellent blender July 7, 2008 After about 25 years, it was necessary to replace my old Waring Blender. I read all the reviews, and decided on this blender by Oster. It is attractive, and does a great job. Follow the directions, and put your ice in last for smoothies, and all will go well. I also used it to blend soup I had made, and it did a great job with that as well.
A tough machine June 27, 2008 I have been through a lot of blenders, and they just don't hold up. This one is tough, and I don't need all the bells and whistles that other blenders have.
Save yourself the grief! June 26, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
My old blender died and when I mentioned it to a family member, they offered me this one. They were buying a Blendtec and didn't need it anymore. Ever heard the phrase 'you get what you pay for' ? Well, it certainly applies here! I would really be frustrated if I bought this blender. It's cute, no doubt. And if you just want a blender that looks good, with it's retro styling, go for it. But it is noisy and doesn't blend well and can't handle anything very thick. I am getting a Blendtec and SOON!
simple and elegant May 14, 2008 This blender is very simple, but perfect for everyday non-commercial use. It isn't fancy, but the design is elegant and has a retro feel to it. I did have a little problem the first time I used it because it started to leak. Then I realized that it wasn't screwed in all the way. Be careful of this the first time you use it. I kind of jumped right in without checking it out too much and the base is easily separated. Make sure you familiarize yourself with the assembly before using.
My wife swears by it for baby food May 3, 2008 A definite upgrade over standard blenders, the beehive is sturdy, heavy, and solid. Handles anything we've thrown at it without fussing or smelling "hot" and "ozoney". We use it most often to grind up food for the baby, and we've gotten perfect infant-safe results with no chunks. The glass top is nice because it doesn't end up looking hazy like the plastic ones do.
