Great product; Great price September 30, 2008 This is one great calculator for the money. Easy to use and many multi-functions. We have a medium size business and this works great for us. It is comparable to the expensive commerical brands with a much lower price. I would highly recommend this to any business owner, or also for personal use. It has "weight" to it, so there is no "moving around" when you want to tear off your paper. Thanks to Sharp for a super product
Hard to find a printing caluclator May 21, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have been looking for an inexpensive printing calculator, and finally found it in the Sharp that I purchased. Great little machine for the money. Happy with performance and overall purchase.
Sharp Minds, Simple but Useful Products June 20, 2005 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a large business calculator that makes a nice addition to the home or office. It has many useful features like tape printout, with red ink for negative amounts and black ink for positive amounts; a large "plus" key, since it is the one used most frequently; Easy to read blue/green numbers on a black background; options for a specified number of decimal places; etc.
With this type of calculator, you can perform most basic mathematical functions with ease. The placement of the keys (and their large size), makes it easy for those who are proficient at using a ten- key calculator. And if you make a mistake, it is easy to spot the error thanks to the tape backup.
On the negative side, this calculator is too simplistic for any type of advanced or semi- advanced math. There is no square root key, exponent key, or anything like that. You can add, subtract, multiply, divide, and create percentage functions. You can store numbers in memory and program set tax rates to be added or subtracted at the press of a button. But you cannot do much more than that, making this type of calculator practical only for the home or business office.
Another thing you need to be careful about is running out of ink. Unless you really need to have a tape printout as a backup, it is probably a good idea to shut off the printing option, to conserve ink. Replacement costs for the ink rollers are low, but it's best not to waste the ink in the first place to avoid having your work routine interrupted due to dry rollers.
Overall, this is still a pretty good device from Sharp. It's not going to solve a calculus problem or compute the sixth root of a large number. But it performs its basic tasks well: adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing, and computing percentages- the functions you frequently need in an office environment.
