These earrings are approximately 1ct in each ear. They are very well made, with beautiful Cubic Zirconia. The color presented in the photo is accurate. While, these closely resemble the color of good quality diamonds, that most of us are familiar with, CZ's are a beautiful gem in their own right. The come in every color of the rainbow, and then some. I have dove grey CZ's. Cubic Zirconia is found as naturally occurring cubic crystals in the element, Zircon. I really am a jewelry nut, so I have to say these are classifed as semi-precious jewelry. Since the mid to late seventies, CZ's are a popular choice for jewelry. The Russians started massive producing CZ jewelry in the eighties. They actually refer to it by a brand name...can't remember. Cubic Zirconia is it's lab name. Currently, most is grown for jewelry making purposes. They are set in some of the precious metals...silver, gold, and platinum,and sometimes,steel. Costume jewelry can be beautiful when purchased, but buying it is usually, hit or miss. Some has lasting beauty and some has short lived beauty. Good quaility CZ's will retain their beauty for years, if not a lifetime, with proper care.
-Unless wanted, no chemical cleaner necessary...most smell horrendous.
-Try to avoid getting hairspray, pefume, lotion, soap film, or harsh chemical cleaners on your jewelry.
-Soak 5 minutes in a bowl of warm water with a few drops of dish liquid.
-If really dirty...scrub lightly with a Soft bristle toothbrush.
-Rinse thoroughly.
-Dry with lint free cloth or just a paper towel.
-If metal needs polishing, use a good cloth Before soaking, the best I know is Sunshine Polish Cloth...Amazon sells it.
Peora's earrings are very clear, with as much brilliance and fire as they have shine. These are an excellent choice for people who choose not to buy diamonds for personal and political reasons, but like the look. They are also an excellent choice for diamond wearers. Pick these up and spend that 8,000 to 10,000 on something else. Only you and loupe will know they aren't natural diamonds. For self-proclaimed, "diamond snobs"; you're missing out. These CZ stud earrings are much nicer than I expected. The fact that they're sterling silver plated with rhodium is good because I won't have to worry so much about tarnish. I just wish I'd ordered a smaller set, 5 mm instead of 6.35 mm.
