Great At First Then Flopped November 20, 2009 Adekemi Sijuwade (Brooklyn, NY USA) This scale was quite good when I first bought it. Then I moved to a different apartment, and it began giving slightly different accounts of how much I weigh. Over the past few weeks, which is about 4 months since I bought this scale, it has been very inaccurate.
I recently changed batteries and when I placed the scale on the ground (I usually keep it in my closet), the reading automatically went from 0.0 to 4.4. Since then, it reads 4.4 for the first initial reading. I usually wait for that number to disappear then weigh myself.
I am on a weight management plan and was expecting to see the scale show some of the results of my labor, only to find out for this whole month, I have remained at the same weight. You can image my disappointment, because I have really been working hard. Then my mom stepped on the scale and was instantly 10 lbs heavier. I knew then something was wrong. I tested my weight on another scale and I have indeed lost like 6 pounds, which is what I am supposed to have lost on the plan I am on.
So, I have to buy another scale now. Not sure which one. but will keep trying.
Where are the batteries? November 20, 2009 Samuel Chell (Kenosha,, WI United States) Amazon's description as well as the blurb on the manufacturer's box declares that batteries are included (4 AAA's). The instructions even imply they've been pre-installed, telling you simply to tap the scale until it reads 000. No problem getting a big zero when there aren't any batteries, which I made sure were not tucked away in some inconspicuous corner of the package. Otherwise, the scale is more stylish and decorative than the pictures would suggest, practically daring you to step on its glass (!) platform. (Probably not ideal for anyone with an aversion to slippery surfaces.) Once I had purchased and installed the batteries, it seemed to perform up to the standards other reviewers have claimed on its behalf. Moreover, it subtracted a pound and a half from the read-out I was getting from the scale it replaced. So I'll raise my rating if I can get my batteries without first sending the item back to Amazon (actually, the seller wasn't Amazon but "Fullfilled by Amazon," which is supposed to be just as good.)
As for the hype about "extra large" letters and "oversized" platform, I'd have to say both fall within a range that might be considered "normal"--in fact, they're somewhat smaller than the Taylor it replaces but still plainly visible.
Quick service, good product November 19, 2009 C. Richards (San Mateo, CA United States) So far so good for this digital scale. Easy to read. Quality materials. Very reasonable price.
Stop searching.. just buy it November 19, 2009 W. Reese Dead on accurate, easy to use, easy to read, good price.. Why continue your search for a good product - you have found it!
Great scale! November 19, 2009 Moniquife (New York, NY United States) I don't normally post reviews but I got an email from the company and thought I should do so. I was really just looking for a basic cheap old school scale. I had a digital one before and it used to give me different readings when I stepped on it only a few minutes apart. Then the battery dropped out and was lost. So I decided to replace the entire thing instead of just the battery. I was surprised to see how bad most scales are based on the reviews posted here. So I began searching for a scale that wasn't too expensive but had great reviews for accuracy. This was it! It works like a charm. It's pretty accurate. I stepped on it 3 different times and got the same weight. I agree that it is a bit tricky to turn on. Just tapping it didn't seem to work. I lift it with my foot slightly from the bottom and that seems to do the trick. Not a big deal though. I still think it deserves 5 stars!
