Best sleep money can buy March 12, 2010 D. Shannon (Durango CO) Bought 2 of these (1 for spare) to replace an older unit that finally gave up the ghost. They've changed the style a bit but it's still the same quality unit we bought years ago. We turn off the "beamed" time feature as the last thing we want to look at is what time it is splashed across the ceiling when trying to get to sleep. As for the brightness of the display, I had some stick on tint that I bought at an auto parts store I cut a small piece to size to dim down the numbers, problem solved. We like rain and ocean, some of the sounds are a little intrusive but there is something for everyone, don't notice any repeats in the 2 we use. I HATE REPEATS so this is important. If there is a pattern I will just lay there focusing on the repeat, not good.
As for the older one: When we went to plug in the new one it turned out that the wire from the power supply went bad from years of flexing, could have just gotten a replacement power supply from the local electronics store and been good to go. These things last.
Nice little clock/sound spa February 25, 2010 Zekesgirl (Santa Maria, Califonia) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I really like this clock. We already had a projection clock which we love but the other one didn't have the sounds as well. I saw this and thought I would try it. We really like it. There are only two sounds that we find soothing enough to fall asleep to and our favorite is the ocean. A lot of people had complained about the light being too bright, but it doesn't bother my husband and I. If you are the type that must have a completely dark room then this clock isn't for you. The price was very good, especially since I had paid more for my other atomic clock and it was just a clock. This is two for the price of one!! Can't beat that.
Great Product February 21, 2010 K. R. (Leesburg, VA USA) This is a great product. The radio gets excellent reception. The nature sounds are great as well. The only reason I gave it 4 stars vice 5 stars is that the clock display is bright, even on the low setting. I would have thought it would have been dimmer. Other than that, I'd definitely recommend this product. We bought a 2nd one a couple of days after receiving and using the 1st one.
Two out of three broken (slightly) in one month February 6, 2010 Soccer Mom (Irvington, NY United States) The product is a great idea and a great solution for my children who didn't like waking up to traditional buzzers or had trouble falling asleep. The slight problem we have is with two of the time projectors. One stopped showing the accurate time -- instead shows 10:00. The other is no longer in focus no matter how we try to turn the focus knob. These aren't horrendous issues but I don't think we should have either problem roughly one month into owning these. If they had cost more I would wrangle with Homedics to get it fixed. The nature sounds are fantastic and enjoyable. How nice to hear crickets in the middle of the northeast winter! Or a gentle rain storm. If you get a good price on these and the projection clock isn't the primary driver behind your purchase this clock radio will work out well for you.
Who built this thing?! February 4, 2010 sunshine5864 (Las Vegas, NV) Who, in their right mind, would think that a display this bright is a good idea at night while you are trying to sleep? Lights up the whole room! Even on dim! I'm returning it. Sound is okay but who can sleep in a room that's almost bright enough to read?
