Completely UNRELIABLE! October 7, 2008 As one reviewer mentioned, don't be fooled by the positive reviews of new owners of this printer. Mine worked really well for a few months, and then it started having issues. At one point, all the LED indicators went on at the same, for no reason. The only help from the manual was power it down and backup and hope for the best. After several cycles of powering up and down, the issue seemed fix, and the printer worked again for a few months. The the paper light went on when there was no paper jam, and there was paper in the tray, nothing I did would fix the issue. Now the paper light is off, but the printer won't even print at all, no flashing LEDS, nothing. The status light won't even stay on for more than 10 seconds after I hit the "Go" button.
I've owned this printer for only 13 months, and now it looks I'm gonna have to buy another one. Piece of junk, don't waste your money!
A TICKING TIME BOMB -- BEWARE!! October 2, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Most of these reviews are written by new owners. I loooooved this printer at the beginning, too. After 300pp, however, the toner light came on, will not go off, and it will not print. I went online and found HUNDREDS of owners bewailing the same fate. I tried all the recommended fixes, including buying yet ANOTHER new cartridge. I called Tech Support at Brother and they were unhelpful, unsympathetic, and rude. Tomorrow I take it into the repair shop. But I think this is a pile of junk. I HIGHLY regret buying it.
Great Inexpensive Laser Printer with Duplexing Included! September 19, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
The Brother 5250DN is a great value for home and small office laser printing. We own two of these (one in our home and one in our small office :-) and couldn't be happier with the printers. Here are my observations:
* Network ready, just plug it into your router * Easy software setup * Built in duplexing, allows for automatic double sided printing * High yield cartridge Brother TN580 High Yield Black Toner Cartridge, good life and value for the money
Overall, I highly recommend this printer!
Nice Network Printer with Duplexing September 16, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Good printer (so far). Can't say "I love it" yet because: 1. Depends on the reliability over the years. 2. I experienced some problems with printing on pre-printed paper.
Duplexing works nice, and I like that the printer can be connected via ethernet.
Brother Printer 5250DN September 9, 2008 I've used this printer for 1 month and am very satisfied with it so far. I bought it to replace the Brother 5150D which I used for several years and would still be using if I had not tried to print small handbills which damaged the printer.
