Amazon.com Product Description The Canon Pixma MP470 is a versatile, all-in-one unit that lets you quickly print beautiful photos and laser-quality text at home. Compact and easy to use, the MP470 delivers results that are truer to your originals, plus it scans photos or forms, even thick notebooks, with ease. This unit also lets you print directly from memory cards, digital cameras, and camera phones, and you can even enhance your images before you print by using the 1.8-inch color LCD display. All these great features come in one stylish machine that will enhance any home or office setting. The MP470 uses Canon's FINE technology with microscopic droplets as small as two picoliters for incredible detail, and a maximum 4800 x 1200 dot-per-inch (dpi) resolution for vivid, lifelike prints. It also works fast, printing a borderless 4-by-6-inch photo in approximately 46 seconds. Before printing, you can preview and fine tune your images by using the color LCD display. For added convenience, you can print from memory cards, cameras, and camera phones--no computer needed. You even have the option of click-connect-print: Just capture an image with a PictBridge-ready digital camera/DV camcorder, then connect and print. And if you're not completely satisfied with your print, the Easy-PhotoPrint EX software and automatic image-fix help you troubleshoot and create a wide variety of beautiful shots. In fact, using select Canon inks and photo papers with the MP470 will produce photos that last up to 100 years. Exceptionally easy to use, the MP470 is ready to go when you are; simply press the power button and you can begin inputting commands immediately. The USB 2.0 interface enables the fastest possible image transfers and scanning speeds. For added convenience, you can print from a compatible Bluetooth device in another room, using the optional USB Bluetooth adapter. When it's time to make copies, trust the dual color gamut processing technology to automatically optimize quality based on the type of originals you're copying. And all your scans will have superb detail, thanks to the high resolution of up to 2400 x 4800 dpi. Don't waste your time or money September 25, 2008 Canon Pixma MP470 Photo All-In-One Inkjet Printer (2177B002)
I bought a Canon MP470 for my wife. She is a school teacher so I thought that she could use something like this at home, a printer/copier/scanner, so she doesn't have to wait in line during school hours. Anyway, I bought this product thru Amazon thinking that this was a great deal... $75 for an all in one! I was so wrong. It worked fine for about a month and then there was a mysterious paper jam. I searched and searched but there was not even a fragment of paper in the machine. So, we tried again. We purchased the same model from a local dept store. I set up the machine and this time it did not even print one page successfully. The printer would not feed the paper thru to print, then again I received the annoying paper jam error when nothing even made it to the printer.
My advice. Pay a little extra. $75 for an all in one is too good to be true. Your machine may be working fine now but the time will come. I have spent more than $75 of my own time trying to troubleshoot. Instead, I am going back to the manufacturer and demanding my money back... not a replacement... a full refund.
This was my first Canon product. I thought they had a good reputation in this market, but I guess they tried to get too cheap. Never again... I will stick with Lexmark or Epson from here on out for my printing needs.
Avoid this printer September 19, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
While on the surface it may seem like a decent enough printer it has one glaring actually horrible flaw ! You can shove a load of paper in the back and very often it doesnt recognize it is their. It says load paper on pc screen when its loaded .You are holding the paper in loader at all different places. And sometimes you do this for ten minutes than by some grace of god luck it than starts printing and recognizes paper in back as being loaded.
This is ridiculous that this happens the most basic operation you put paper in back and sometimes/often it doesnt say it is their even though it is.
Avoid this or buy it and have it happen to you dozens of times, maybe hundreds depending how often you print and you will regret it I assure you.I threw it out .I am not going to stand over some flawed equipment playing with paper and loading it.Its loaded and it should print and it doesnt, not very pleasant.
Research before you buy.... September 14, 2008 researched this printer on consumer reports and was able to purchase on here for less $$ even with the shipping. Ooh and it also prints well.
AVOID: Wastes Color Ink on B&W only Printing September 14, 2008 I've owned this printer for 4 months and print only B&W, using my Epson 2200 as my dedicated photo printer. With the MP470, checking "Greyscale" printing AND going into Maintenance / Ink Cartridge Settings and configuring the printer to use ONLY black ink (per user manual), my color ink has been nearly depleted. I leave the printer on 24/7 because I know printers often use up ink on every power cycle to charge the cartridges (I have an elec. eng. degree). The printer will not work if the color ink cartridge is removed. There's no legitimate reason for this $70 printer, with these settings, to go through $25 worth of color ink when doing only B&W printing. When this is completely out of ink I plan on throwing it away and buying another brand. It'll be cheaper than paying Canon to waste my ink, to say nothing of the increased polution in printer cartridges.
Great Printer for the price! September 13, 2008 We have only had this printer for a couple of months now but we are happy with it. No problems. It is a great printer for our home office! And the price is good too. We used to have a Canon MP600, but it used several separate inks and they were very touchy! Many times we had to replace the inks not because the printer was bad, but because it didn't recognize that cartridge. It got very frustrating so we got rid of it and after doing some research on Amazon's reviews, found that the Canon MP470 was a really good printer and had only 2 ink cartridges. So far it has been good to us!
