Product Description Wireless-G is the upcoming 54Mbps wireless networking standard that's almost five times faster than the widely deployed Wireless-B (802.11b) products found in homes, businesses, and public wireless hotspots around the country - but since they share the same 2.4GHz radio band, Wireless-G devices can also interoperate with existing 11Mbps Wireless-B equipment.Since both standards are built in, you can protect your investment in existing 802.11b infrastructure, and migrate to the new screaming fast Wireless-G standard as your needs grow. The Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router is really three devices in one box. First, there's the Wireless Access Point, which lets you connect Wireless-G or Wireless-B devices to the network. There's also a built-in 4-port full-duplex 10/100 Switch to connect your wired-Ethernet devices. Connect four PCs directly, or daisy-chain out to more hubs and switches to create as big a network as you need. Finally, the Router function ties it all together and lets your whole network share a high-speed cable or DSL Internet connection. To protect your data and privacy, the Wireless-G Broadband Router can encrypt all wireless transmissions. The Router can serve as a DHCP Server, has NAT technology to protect against Internet intruders, supports VPN pass-through, and can be configured to filter internal users' access to the Internet. Configuration is a snap with the web browser-based configuration utility. With the Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router at the center of your home or office network, you can share a high-speed Internet connection, files, printers, and multi-player games with the flexibility, speed, and security you need!

Great Router October 7, 2008 Fast connection speeds, secure, and a breeze to set up. No complaints at all!
Linksys-Cisco WRT54GL Wireless-G Broadband Router October 6, 2008 I run Linux, so "Linux-compatible" was one selling point. The others included good price point with free shipping and some positive on line reports, encouraging for this (nearly) first-time networker. Wired connections to my desktop computer and PS3 plus a wired WEP connection to my ASUS eee_pc all were very easy to set up. I'm quite happy with this product.
basic but functional October 6, 2008 The old linksys is dying after 6 years. This new linksys fits all my basic needs, setting up a local network.
Terrific October 3, 2008 Now I know why this is a 16x customer choice award winner! I replaced my Trendnet TEW-432BRP router with this one and noticed a significant performance increase (30% download) plus it solved the DHCP IP-address assignment issues I was having (both wired and wirelessly). I was beginning to think something was wrong with my PCs but it was just the PoC router (you get what you pay for, generally speaking). This is the only production Linksys model that will accept third-party Linux firmware. I went with Tomato (vs. DD-WRT) and couldn't be happier. I like the rugged case design/construction and the separate transmit and receive antennas. I'm thinking of buying two more (to put into stock for my PC business) even though 802.11n (draft/preliminary) routers are now available.
Excellent stable router October 3, 2008 I bought this to replace a WRT54G which had unexplained hangs - which apparently they are famous for. I now just use that one for visiting houseguests.
The GL model has been superb, especially since I immediately replaced the Linksys operating system with Tomato, an alternative to the supplied OS. It provides a clearer and easier interface (there are other good alternatives too). The best part has been the reliability. In a year, I have had only two hangs that required rebooting of the router.
I can't say much else, it's been the perfect router. I never have to think about it, and using Tomato makes control and changes easy.
