Hi All
I had bought Dell Studio 1555 15.6 Inch Laptop.
I am very disappointed with the battery life. As it is claimed upto 8hrs 3min but the fact is it only lasts upto 4 and 1/2hrs. I had checked several times but everytime i feel as if cheated.
Please if you also have the same problem join me as we have invested huge amount on this. Lets not just fool ourselves

Good for casual users. Not suitable for gaming users mainly because the keyboard has functions that disables the easy clicking of the F1-F12 buttons which come in handy for a number of games. Good for playing songs and browsing the internet. Great deal.

I got this laptop as a replacement for my Insprion Laptop. I love this laptop every bit especially after using Inspiron 1525. I love the LCD Screen, battery life and the configuration of this sytem. Windows 7 is really good and it makes me like my laptop even more. This one has the t6600 intel core2duo's centrino processor. Studio laptops stands out in its looks and is comparable to the Hp's. One the bad side, this laptop is a bit heavy.

This is a great laptop. The construction is solid. The screen looks sharp and colors crisp. Amazon put together a great value, which is considerably cheaper than the Dell website. I am familiar with Dell laptops since we own a still very functional Inperion E1405 and I have a Dell laptop through GE.
The bad:
When we recieved the laptop, Internet Explorer, Firefox etc would consistantly crash when loading a website with Adobe Shockwave Flash content. Most popular websites use this add on, including [...]. I did searches, reinstalled IE, changed virus protection, and reinstalled all software to factory settings, but could not solve the problem.
Here is the problem:
Faulting application name: iexplore.exe, version: 8.0.7600.16385, time stamp: 0x4a5bc69e
Faulting module name: Flash10d.ocx, version: 10.0.42.34, time stamp: 0x4ae7baed
Exception code: 0xc0000005
Here is the response from Dell:
Agent (Amiay_205916): "We can try by resetting the Internet explorer but if it does not solve the problem you can speak with our specialized department Dell Solution Station Which is a Paid support."
I seemed to have temporarily fixed the problem by uninstalling and reinstalling Adobe Flash shockwave a couple times. However, as I review the event logs, it seems that IE crashed yesterday. Since today is the last day to return this laptop, I will return it.

I am not being over dramamtic either.
Until I sent an email to the BOARD OF DIRECTORS at Dell and one of the Officers I would spend as much as 2hrs 45minutes trying to get answers and service to my laptop.
This kind of irresponsible customer support was the norm.
The reps would pass me along for 2 hours or MORE; and I was still dissatisfied.
I had my Dell Studio for less than 6 months when it would not turn on.
I am th only one that uses it, had never removed it from my home and treated it with TLC.
Well hours were spent REPEATING the same story, answering the SAME QUESTIONS, being transferred from Rep to Rep....HOURS!
They finally sent out a local Tech and he could not fix it. He told me that it is not unusual for Dell to dispatch "malfunctioning" replacement parts. Imagine..."not unusual".
More time spent and NO resolution to the problem.
More time on the phone. More getting tossed from Rep to Rep.
Finally I was sent a box to return the laptop to Dell for
More lost time time to get together with FEDEX-twice, outgoing and incoming.
I finally received the laptop back and it was a disgrace. INK MARKS ON THE COVER, DENTS TO THE INTERIOR PLASTIC PARTS, STICKY DROPS ON THE KEYBOARD.
Here we go again.
HOURS on the phone and they finally agree to have the parts replaced. Sure???
The local tech called twice. Both time disregarding the phone number I requested they use and the TIMES I told Dell I would be available.
When I called DELL (more time WASTED) on the phone to inquire about getting the service technician
to call me back, Dell informed me that the local tech. had sent everything back stating that he had called FOUR TIMES without a callback. Outright lie.
Hours later the SUPERVISOR agreed to call me with details of service call. NEVER HAPPENED.
Now the SAME local technician, repeats his routine of calling at the wrong time and calling the wrong phone !
Did I say 2hrs 45minutes? 4 Reps just to REPEAT the same information 4 different times and to be told in the end that I could call the Tech Dispatch to arrange an appt for service call.
It finally took an INDEPENDENT, NON-Dell contractor to fix the laptop.
DON'T Buy Dell unless you like the worst customer service imaginable and a faulty computer.
