Works just fine on the MacBook Pro. Doesn't work well unless you plug it into two USB ports(cable included). I use a three foot USB cable and an iPhone USB power adapter. Side by side, it is slightly taller than the palm rest area of the MBP.
I have the white model. There is a metal flake like finish to the top side; flat white on the bottom.
Being able to work off one USB port would be nice, but if I needed another one I'd get this one again.
Extra cable I use: AmazonBasics USB 2.0 A-Male to A-Female Extension Cable (3.3 Feet / 1.0 Meter) [Amazon Frustration-Free Packaging]
which I plug into a power adapter:OEM Apple USB Power Adapter with Data Cable for ATT (AT&T) Iphone 2G / 3G / 3G S to free up a USB port.
The included cable is too short to reach both sides of the 2.14GHz MBP by itself.

Especially for the price, this drive was a great buy and works perfectly as expected. For the relatively few times I will need to use a CD/DVD drive with the netbook, it was a good and worthwhile purchase.

Great little drive, but Samsung should have included codex so you can hear the sound on a DVD. Samsung support could not seem to explain why there was no sound but once I got help elsewhere and downloaded Codex-lite all worked well. Thumbs up to Samsung on the design of the drive, thumbs down for not including the needed software or having the support able to explain how to fix the situation.

Have a Acer AOD250-1165 and this Samsung unit was plug and play. I did try it first on a Dell Vostro 200 and it needs the second USB pluged in for it to run.
The only possible issue for some installs is the need for a USB extention.
Would purchase again.

I bought this drive to function as an occasional drive for my netbook. It had to be cheap, it had to work, and it had to be light enough to carry through an airport if I needed to. Check, Check, and Check. I didn't even install the included Roxio Bloatware, I just hooked it up, Windows installed the driver automatically, and I was off. I have not tred to use it to burn a CD (I have a big computer to do that), but it works flawlessly for playing a DVD or installing software.
