Love it! March 18, 2010 Summer D. Wood (Chicago, IL) I'm not an avid video taker which is why I bought this little guy. Now that I have it I have to say I LOVE IT! It actually makes me want to take video of things just to do it. It is super easy to use. Fits in your pocket or purse.
My absolutely FAVORITE feature though...in the software you can take a video frame by frame and save each (if you really want) as a picture, and it prints as a good picture! I used the camera when my 3 year old nephew came to visit and trying to get a good still shot of him was like trying to pull out my own tooth so I spent the majority of the time video-ing his fun loving, energetic, never sit still self as we ran around the city seeing all the sights. When I downloaded my video's and messed around with the software I found the snapshot feature and decided to try it out. Some of the pictures I pulled from the video are pricelss and the kind that with a still shot camera you get maybe 1 in a 1,000,000. I printed them through [...] (cuz computer quality and paper quality sometimes differ) and was even more pleased. The pictures print with a great quality.
Overall for the price, convenience, and size this is hands down a must have!
TERRIBLE DON'T BUY IT!!! WARNING!!! March 9, 2010 Red Lion CAUTION-- if your thinking about buying this product-- STOP NOW!!!! I purchased the camera when it first came out (less then a year ago) and now it's dead. I called tech support and the only offer a 90 day warranty and that's it. There is no repair service or anything for the product. So you are stuck with a piece of junk plastic. If you don't want to have a headache, DON'T BUY!!!!!!!!!!
Videos that are hard to keep March 5, 2010 suefein I bought a Flip Mino thinking that this was the ideal size camcorder for my purposes, to record my grandchildren as they grow up. To look at the video clips that I took, I wanted to put them onto a DVD that I could play in my DVD player, rather than my computer, which will be upgraded or otherwise changed every couple of years. I found that this is a very hard thing to do. The only way I found to do this is to upload the video clips to Flip for a charge of about $20. I am willing to pay this. But with my old camcorder I could make permanent copies myself, which was MUCH more convenient. I think Flip is stopping this service in March. So I don't know what I'll do with videos I take next year. I would NOT recommend the Flip Mino because of this difficulty. It takes fine video clips, but then what do you do with them if you want to keep them. Search me. Maybe if you are a computer geek you can solve this problem. But I think a product should have a wider range than this for its customers.
Only 2 minutes available February 27, 2010 jelart I purchased Flip Mino in May, 2009. It's a wonderful product. Easy to use and carry. Until yesterday, I could only make two minutes of video. Other memories are gone. I am trying to get hold of the customer support. I know I am out of warranty time.
I'll wait and see what they'd say about it. The memory card is built in. There is no way for me to configure it.
Update:
I have tried for weeks to contact Flip's support. They normally come back to me in 3 or 5 days, with no helpful garbage.
My record time is down to 1:37 minute. I tried many times the best actual record time is 4 minutes. In less a year, $160 is down the drain.
I hope some one can come up with a solution to my problem.
Thanks,
