great refurbished netbook! March 19, 2010 music fan This is the first refurbished item I've purchased, and I'm very satisfied w/ the product. The netbook functions well; it was reasonably priced; and I received it promptly.
Good secondary computer February 22, 2010 Jesse Roske I bought this samsung a month and a half ago and have had no problems with it. It is quick to boot, the battery lasts easily 4 hours without having it on a power saving mode. Picks up internet sources well. Keyboard seems large for such a small netbook. The speakers are decent though ive heard better on tiny cell phone speakers.
Overall, I really enjoy it when i need an to do things away from my pc.
Best Laptop February 17, 2010 L. Hayes-Harris (Santa Barbara, CA) I purchased this laptop during the week of Black Friday last year. I was online comparing prices the night before and what I found was perfect! I had had a HP laptop that performed OK, but found that the certain features of the Samsung is what I needed for daily use with online classes. The brightness and size of the screen was a great benefit to me, along with the desktop maintenance features. I have recommended this laptop to friends and family already. Thanks Samsung...there is more to them then phones and TV's now!
Worth the wait February 10, 2010 Alan S. Lindmark (Bath, NY United States) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I researched for over a year before buying this netbook. I relied heavily on what others said on this site so I feel compelled to add my two cents. I actually bought the blue model...my heart was set on white...but pricing after the new year and new models came out went through the roof. I finally got this from Tech for Less (great company to deal with...sorry Amazon, would have used you if you had a deal) It is a refurbished model...but is working great. I was most concerned that I would not be able to deal with the smaller size of a netbook, so a keyboard was a major concern. I do not like flat keys or island style...so this keyboard was all that was left as far as I was concerned...and it is great! My wife tried it and did not think it was any smaller than her full sized lap top. The Screen is bright, so much better than my old Dell Inspiron 6000. Battery life is great and the wifi picks up quickly and with a strong signal where ever I have gone. Too bad this model is going out...it meets all my needs and more. Thanks for all the reviews folks... $319.00 at Tech for Less for a refurbished....not too bad.
A+ Netbook! February 9, 2010 HC (California, USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I've owned a number of laptops and desktops (and still do) but for my work I decided I needed something even more portable than my current laptop, which I really use more as a desktop replacement. I purchased this netbook after reading many reviews and playing with several types of netbooks in stores and from friends (which I cannot recommend highly enough -- definitely FEEL and TEST them!). My reason for looking primarily at the Samsungs was the keyboard size as my primary use for my new netbook would be typing up notes, reports, etc. I tried all different kinds in stores, but at the end of the day, I was most comfortable typing on the Samsung and not only because of its closer-to-normal keyboard size, but the keys felt nice and were spaced and shaped in a way that I liked.
Having owned this one for a few months now, I've been impressed with the battery life (FYI I never knew you needed to condition the battery or whatever, but I try to let it run all or almost all the way down before charging and I'm getting 6+ hours consistently on normal power mode, as opposed to power save). The computer's been really easy to use (comparable to other "normal" computers, I'd say), it has good power save modes and runs fairly efficiently. I almost never turn it off, but just close the lid and it hibernates for hours or days at a time without any problems. I will say though that sometimes I feel it's a little slow to start up again from hibernation, but this is still faster than a full shut down and restart.
The screen and keyboard have both been totally satisfactory for what I wanted and needed. Sometimes I find myself surprised by how huge my regular laptop seems when I get home. Still, the screen and keyboard are smaller than normal computers and I do sometimes get annoyed by having to scroll more than usual. That said, if you're looking to get a netbook, it is (in my opinion) sort of a given that you get a smaller screen and keyboard since that's the point. Also for whatever it's worth, I think the white is really pretty, it is sort of pearl/shiny, so take that into consideration if it matters to you. Other little things: I would have preferred a two button mouse rather than a two sided mouse. I've not had too many problems, but it can be annoying. I've also been more annoyed than pleased with the side of the mouse pad being made a scroll function. I end up accidently scrolling more often than intentionally scrolling, which can be irritating.
All in all though, this netbook has been perfect for what I need. It's relatively comfortable to read and write on, very lightweight, accesses the internet for me when/where I need it to, and it maintains its charge for way longer than I was expecting. If you're on the market for a netbook, I recommend considering this one.
