Help! Won't format disks. Don't know where to get help. November 20, 2009 Neal Fox (San Marcos, CA USA) We've had this machine for a couple of months and only recently tried to dub vcr tapes to a dvd. (Which is the main reason we bought it). I know we should have done this before the warranty ran out, but we didn't.
I've tried two different brands of DVD-R. Every time I put the disk in, it's says "loading". After it's done loading I get the disk error. Not playable.
I can't even get the option to format it.
I know this is a place for review, but I can't even find out where to get help on line or by phone. The manual is NO help with anything.
Does anybody know where there is a forum for this. I've googled but didn't find anything.
Thanks.
Great product...I love it. October 28, 2009 bizscholar (Jacksonville, FL USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This was perfect for me dubbing my old VHS-C tapes. The picture quality was excellent and for the price it was awesome. I did notice the VCR played my tapes with some tracking issues but it was because I havent watched these tapes in a long time and they were probably sticking or something. The only thing is that it is tricky to learn to DUB. You have to read several sections first in the manual to get started an learn the features/icons. For the most part it was pretty intuitive. It doesnt feel flimsy and feels well built which is nice. Glad I bought it.
Copying VHS to DVD works great October 22, 2009 Dennis Benson (Uniontown, OH United States) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have stacks of VHS tapes and this recorder effectively copies them to a DVD. The initial operation required reading and re-reading the instructions and reviewing them again when the recorder was not used for a while. It does exactly what I needed and the quality of the DVD is excellent. More than one tape or parts of a a VHS tape can be burned to the DVD until the DVD is full. I then copy the DVD to my computer and used video editing software to create a movie.
Don't bother October 21, 2009 Mary Kunz 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
This product is practically worthless. It is extremely difficult to hook up even to a digital TV. Even a professional person told us not to bothwer trying to get it to burn a DVD. It is an expensive DVD and VCR player...Both of which I already had...
CD not reading disk after less than 5 hrs use. October 21, 2009 dubber flubber (So Cal) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Bought this unit to convert some of my favorite shows I have on VCR to DVD.. well it worked fine for the first dubbing session... after dinner I tried another and 3/4 of the way through I get this error... " cannot read disk ". I thought ok, maybe a bad blank DVD. So I tried 3 more blank and no soap...CD burner part seems to have kicked the bucket... and I didnt even get to finish dubbing my 2nd tape.
Going back to where I got it and might try another just for kicks... seems some people have had good luck with it, but I have my doubts that the second one will be any better.
