Super peripheral March 17, 2010 Joel Peterson (Minnesota, USA) The Dynadock is an excellent addition to our office.
We recently upgraded from an older custom made desktop to a new MASSIVE laptop, but I also have a company owned laptop that I use for work. I wanted to find a set-up that would allow me to use either laptop with the additional screens, Ethernet, keyboard/mouse, and other USB peripherals. I tried finding a traditional docking station that would work with my work computer, and a new laptop that would be likewise compatible, but I wasn't happy with any of the conforming options. The Dynadock solved that issue.
My work computer is a Dell Inspirion D630, and my new laptop is a Toshiba Qosmio Q870 (light years apart). Both work flawlessly with the Dynadock, connected to two additional LCD flatscreens (yes, that's three active screens at a time), optical audio driving my 5.1 DTS stereo, mouse, iPod (will charge while running/sleeping/undocked), all-in-one printer, and Ethernet.
The only complaint that I have is on the remote screens, the image can become momentarily pixilated while scrolling webpages (it seems to be web specific, as it doesn't happen for images, video or text stored locally). Again, this is only on the additional, remote screens. I've never seen this issue on the laptops' attached screen.
Decent product... March 15, 2010 J. Garr (Clearwater, FL USA) Not a bad product for use with laptops that do not offer docking... All functions are good except when using another monitor. Cannot get the monitor to work properly with gaming.
Excellent product March 13, 2010 Lonestar 1 (Houston, Texas) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I purchased the Toshiba Docking Station a few weeks ago and installed it in a short period. The instructions were clear and simple. It has been working flawlessly since.
Docking station March 12, 2010 John A. Brayman (AR, USA) Major disappointment was no source of power for the laptop from the dock. Still need to connect a separate power cord for dock and the laptop. Would have preferred to plug laptop power cord into the dock.
Works, probably as good as you will get March 2, 2010 Melanie Mumme Unfortunately when I bought my laptop I did not bother to check whether or not it had a docking station designed for it, well it does not, so I went searching for a universal. I have a 22" monitor, two external hard drives, wireless keyboard and mouse, speakers, printer and cooling pad all hooked up to it. Initially my speakers did not work, after finding the newest driver and updating/installing it, I have had no problems with the speakers. Having said that there are a few issues still, the biggest and most frustrating is the monitor, when you have an external monitor hooked up sometimes the device goes birzirk and can't configure properly, the monitors will go on and off every 30 seconds, requiring a restart, the only time this happens is when coming out of sleep mode, and it does not happen every time, so your guess is as good as mine. Other than that the only minor issues I have found are the occasional (fairly rare) delay of mouse/keyboard activity on the external monitor (a 3 second delay at most, and again it does not happen often) and the device does not like to recognize one of my external hard drives IF it is on before the docking station, (it recognizes just fine if it is off and I flip it on after the docking station is on) however it is an off off brand, not the greatest at all; the device has recognized every other storage device I have thrown at it, so I am pretty sure it is just the low quality nature of that particular hard drive, it is temperamental all by itself, so I don not blame this docking station. I have not tried the video out yet, but I will and follow up here. For the most part I am very happy with the device, I know only have one usb plugged into my lappy, so much easier to unplug to take with me, although I must admit there are better prices out there if you search well enough.
