Great sound but doesn't fit my ears well November 22, 2009 CCA (Austin, TX) I'll start out with what I love about these earphones:
* The sound quality is excellent
* The fabric coating to the cord makes it more durable and less likely to tangle
* They come with multiple ear adapter sizes and styles
But here's why I sadly only gave it 3 stars:
* Even with all of the size and style adapter options, none of them fit comfortably in my ears in a way where they stay in my ears while I'm walking. So I either have to push them so far into my ears that they hurt me or I have to constantly put them back in my ears.
* This might be a problem unique to me (and my daughter) as I generally have difficulty finding earbuds that stay in my ears although the kind that come with iPods do work for me.
great little earbuds for the money. November 17, 2009 J. Ward (Oakland, CA) full sound. the only time I heard the "cloth cable rubbing noise" was when I had textured collar for the cable to rub against, and even then it wasn't overbearing. These rival the FMJ by skullcandy in tone, which I also own.... If these had the casing around the cable like the skullcandy earbuds I would have given them a 5 star rating. A great value that you cannot go wrong with at this price!
Excellent November 16, 2009 Kuntal Bhowmick (Teaneck, New Jersey) It blocks out pretty much everything that i need, if not then i can turn up my music to like, halfway, and everything would be fine. Only problem is that the buds might get uncomfortable but that might be just the ones i am using.
There is the problem out the cloth covered cord though, it does make noise when it rubs against something, but really, it doesn't happen that often and i am used to it by now.
Not What I Expected! November 14, 2009 T. V. Parker (Alexandria, VA USA) I purchased the Altec Lansing Backbeat 326 Ear Buds based on the favorable review of a leading Consumer magazine, as well as the favorable comments on the Amazon site. I have had them for less than 24 hours and I am packaging them up for return. Additionally, I went to Best Buy (I hate going to Best Buy) and bought a cheap set of Sony ear buds (MDR-ED12LP), which are more secure, more comfortable and even sound better.
First, the cloth cover on the cord of the Altec Lansing buds seems like a nice touch. It does add weight to the buds though and makes them constantly feel like they are going to fall out. Also, as some have stated, the cloth cover transmits any cord rubbing into the ear.
Second, I couldn't tell you if it was the way God made my ear or the way Altec made these buds, but they are uncomfortable. I tried all the various tips and could not find a set that were comfortable and felt secure. During the short period I wore these buds I found that I constantly adjusted them to try to make them comfortable and secure. I was not able to find the "sweet spot."
Finally, when compared to my new Sony buds and the buds that came with my Sansa Fuze, the Altec Lansings did not sound that great. They were a bit tinny sounding, lacked bass and were not that loud. I listen to classical, jazz, and a lot of 80's. I found that I had to increase the Sansa volume setting by 20-30% beyond that required for my new Sony buds and the buds that came with my Sansa to achieve a comparable listening volume. I figured that the exact opposite would be true of these Altec Lansing noise-isolating buds.
Ear buds are a tough purchase because there are so many personal factors that come into play. I have bought a lot of ear phones for a lot of devices in my life (travel and workouts are tough on them) and this is the first pair I have been truly dissatisfied with. Buyers beware.
Very good sound November 10, 2009 J. Nagler These sound very nice. I had been listening with a pair of JBL 220's. These are
much more detailed, and reproduce alot more sound.
