Simplicity March 18, 2010 Duffer. (Conyers, GA United States) This replacement card was an easy task to install. One small screw holds the cover in place and is easily removed. I just pulled out the card that came with the netbook and slid in the replacement. One needs to be careful of static electricity when handling the card. A wrist strap would be a good safety item.
Good and reliable March 17, 2010 T. King (HI USA) All I can say is that this is good reliable ram coming from reputable manufacture, had it for five months now and now issues.
Compatible with the Asus 1005PE-MU17 March 13, 2010 Andre Francisco (Sacramento, CA USA) I am a first-time owner of a netbook and so this is also my first time buying a 2gb memory ram to upgrade my netbook. I ordered this module after seeing a lot of pleasant reviews about this, and people have been saying it works for the ASUS 1005HA, so I took a gamble and purchased this for $45.
It arrived the same day with my netbook, but I did not open it until I got access to a Philips Screwdriver. (Best Buy charges $50 to do it themselves, rip off!)
I carefully put in the ram and I made sure the ram is installed correctly. I turned on my 1005PE-MU17 and... IT DID NOT RECOGNIZE IT! It still says 1.00 Memory, 1024 MB of ram!
I prematurely thought, "My goodness! This isn't compatible!" I shut down and reinstalled the ram again , but it still won't recognize it!
I considered returning this item until I researched more on installing ram on the internet. It mentions pressing F2 on startup to access BIOS. After doing the steps it told me, my computer recognized the ram!
STEPS:
1. Turn on your 1005PE-MU17, and tap F2 multiple times to get to BIOS
2. Using right arrow key, move to the BOOT tab, and disable the Boot Booster.
3. Save changes and exit.
4. Once on log in screen, shut down.
5. Remove Battery and proceed to install the 2GB Crucial 2gb ram.
6. Close the lid, put back battery.
7. Repeat Step 1
8. Now you should see your memory say "2048 MB" (2gb)
9. Go back to BOOT tab and enable the Boot Booster.
10. Save changes, and LIFE IS GOOD. You done it!
My computer now recognizes the 2gb memory and now I will not return this item. IF you had doubts on this product, stop and be rest assured, this is compatible with the EEE PC 1005 line ! Hope this helps.
Junk Memory March 13, 2010 R. Homer Ordering was great, arrival was great, everything worked great for about 3 weeks and the memory failed! Yep, stuck with a lemon. Had to go and buy Kingsinton, it has been working great ever since.
Causes shutdown freeze on ASUS 10.1" netbooks March 12, 2010 Frank Williamson (Alabama) Purchased for my ASUS eeePC 1001P netbook. After dealing with the BIOS to get it to recognize the memory, the machine booted fine. Everything seemed ok at first, but the problem occurs on shutdown in battery mode. Windows will shut all the way down, however the power lights on the netbook are still on. This does not occur in AC mode nor does it occur with the OEM ASUS 1GCB stick. After some research both here on Amazon and on google this is a recurring problem with Crucial memory and ASUS netbooks. ASUS owners need to look elsewhere, preferably a Hynix brand stick, which is recommended by ASUS. Purchase a Hynix instead and it is working 100%.
