Amazing gadget... March 2, 2010 Robert Netkovski (Skopje, Macedonia) This llittle player has everything I would like from MP3 player. I have not played videos and I do not think I will play any as the screen is too small for that. The sound quality is excellent and it plays anythig you transfer to it :-). Battery life is outstanding and navigation is easy and quite logical.
The only thing that is not so good is the USB port transfer rate. It is very, very slow. Not even 1 Mbps, so to fill 16 Gb will take a whole night. Also, be careful how you store it. I have cracked the plastic on mine in my backpack. No clue how it happened. Still works great though.
Happy listening
Not particularly compelling February 18, 2010 Daniel Golden (Scarsdale, NY) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I only use the iAUDIO I7 for listening to music. The audio quality is good, the USB flash drive feature is nice, and the battery life is stellar. But there are too many bad things about this player.
The swing touch interface is gimmicky without being practical. I prefer buttons and scroll wheels.
The user interface, for example, to add songs to the current playlist, is awful. Songs are listed by filename instead of ID3 tag, which is really annoying for me; I title my MP3s using artist - album - track - title, which means that I have to wait for a lot of extraneous information to scroll by before I can tell what song I'm selecting.
The JetAudio computer software is terrible. I use Windows Media Player to transfer songs instead.
I wish I could find a modern MP3 player that was as pleasant and easy to use as my old Rio Karma.
Perfect for three months, then..... February 11, 2010 A. Rzepela (East Coast (US)) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Worked really beautifully for me for three months, then the ON/OFF switch broke.
My response so far has been to buy the same product again as a replacement. I loved it and miss it THAT much, and while I've arranged for a return, I'm waiting to see what (if anything) a repair would cost, so bought another this week to tide me over. All the positive things you've read about it are true. I wish wish wish the switch hadn't broken after only three months. I'd be able to give it 5 stars. But without that switch, it's just an expensive thumb drive.
Leaves my iPod in the Dust! January 13, 2010 julesXL 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I've been aware of this player for quite some time, but always deemed it too expensive. After all, they're charging a buck-twenty for something as small as a pack of gum. But if you've got the cash flow, iAUDIO I7 (16GB) is probably one of the most efficient music players on the market and here's why:
1. It plays a large variety of music files including FLAC (and avi's).
2. File transfer is as simple as drag-and-drop. I7 works just like a thumb drive and instead of annoying playlists you can create your own file system. Proprietary software is included but is largely unnecessary.
3. I7 is unbelievably customizable. You can adjust anything from shuffle mode scope to how touch-sensitive the sliding control bar is, which works just like iPod's click wheel (except it's a bar). You can even chose which group of buttons gets blocked by the 'Hold' switch!
4. It has FM radio.
5. I7 is advertised as having a 60 hour battery life, I've read it's more like 40 and mine doesn't last more than 5-6 hours. But I'm sure it's just bad luck and I am getting a replacement after a week of use.
iAUDIO I7 has a plastic case and 3 plastic buttons none of which feel flimsy. The buttons don't wobble in their nests and the case seems quite sturdy. Aside from limited capacity, it blows the iPod away.
Update: I got a replacement and the battery lives up to about 40 hours and then some. A full recharge takes 3 hours. Replacement works only by sending the defective player back and buying an new one. JetAudio will refund first money within a week. Keep in mind JetAudio does not have customer support and publishes the Amazon phone number on their store front.
So, after a few months use I have to admit that the main controls are a bit too close together and my wide thumbs keep catching a few buttons at a time. I use the 'Hold' button to block out the touch-sensitive controls and set the volume rocker to FF/RW function. Also, when out, the screen gets lots of glare. But nothing is prefect and these minor inconveniences by no means overshadow the versatility, sound output and the stellar battery life of this great player.

Are you looking for a product that is a better alternative to many of the mainstream players out there with better ease of use and greater functionality? This is a great product and I recommend it. After weeks of researching different players back then, I bought a Cowon mp3 player and have enjoyed it for the previous four years. I was impressed with their overall features, mostly the "flash drive style" drag-n-drop capabilities instead of the normal "need to convert to X format with our program before use."
Battery Life. The product has excellent battery life (60 hours per manufacturer) and has a great user interface.
Ease Of Use. The controls are sensitive regardless of the touch sensitivity from time to time, but I like it's creative functionality.
Portability. For a 16GB unit, it's fairly small and I decided to get the manufacturer's leather cover/case for it, which protects it well. The unit is very portable, but wide enough to be a bit much to place in a shirt or pants pocket. Still, I have no complaints because of the great range of function that it has.
Sound Quality. The sound quality is great; I had some different headphones to listen to it with so I have no comment about the factory headphones that come with it. I consider myself somewhat of an audiophile and I feel that this unit has great sound quality. The JetEffect features offer a great range of flexibility with equalizing sound.
Conclusion. Definitely look into getting this unit as an alternative to the mainstream players out there. Cowon continues to make great products, as evident from this being my second Cowon unit.
