Excellent multi region dual format dvd player December 20, 2009 Timothy K. Flood 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is an excellent DVD player for those looking for a multi-region and dual format (PAL/NTSC) product. The HDMI 1080p upscaling is also a great feature to provide improved resolution without the region/format limitations of Blu Ray players. Highly recommend.
works great December 11, 2009 Dick Connette (New York, NY United States) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is my first Amazon review, but I have to testify about this unit. It works great, and anybody who's looked knows these multi-region code-free units are hard to find in the States. So far the machine has automatically adjusted for every code. No problem. Plus it's got other neat features which, given the BIG problem it solves, are sweet icing on the cake. BONUS!
but ...
The December 2010 price is $284.95 - I got it for $129.95 here on Amazon in early November, 2010. I suggest, if lower prices haven't reappeared by the time you read this, keep checking and maybe my distributor or others of its more reasonably pricing ilk will resurface.
Does what it says! December 10, 2009 C. Moore (Ottawa, Ont orig Brentwood, Essex, UK) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I am from the UK and now live in Canada. I ordered this multi region DVD to play my UK and NA films. I received the DVD played in 3 days from ordering it in pristine new condition. My set up instructions were in English and the DVD was also in English for the menu set up. I have a High Def flat screen DVD with multiple outlets to different additonal sound, games, cable etc. As I am not technically minded I went and bought an HDMI cable and plugged it straight from the DVD in to the televison. Nothing else but power required. The minus with that is I cannot used surround sound but I can hear everything perfectly from the TV speakers... I am sure most other people could have the DVD running through home theatre it is just not something I can manage to do!! The dvd has played even some of my old first edition UK DVDs perfectly and from different formats. Nothing has been unrecognised or rejected. It even upgrades the film's picture qulaity so they look better than they normally would. The casing of this model is a little flimsy being both slim and ligh weight, hence, I moved to the top of the "heap" as I do not think it could take the weight of the cable box etc. All in all I am very pleased with this DVD as it does what it says it will as did the supplier :o)
Not covered by Pioneer warranty December 7, 2009 J. J. Smith (Illinois) 6 out of 9 found this review helpful
Pioneer does not manufacture or sell multi-region players in the United States. These machines have been modified and re-imported to the US, and are sold without a warranty. Buyer beware.
