The Grundig S350 DL Deluxe offers exceptional value and superior reception of AM, FM and international shortwave. An analog receiver with digital display of frequency and clock, it offers the best of both worlds to the radio enthusiast. Utilizing today's most modern single-conversion superheterodyne circuit design, it's powered by four D cells for exceptionally long play-time and comes with an AC adapter. It receives continuous shortwave from 2.9 - 27.4 MHz, covering all 13 international shortwave broadcast bands of 11, 13, 16, 19, 22, 25, 31, 41, 49, 60, 75 and 90 meters. You will get news and events from all over the world and superior reception of your favorite domestic AM and FM stations, including those often hard to pull-in AM talk shows. It's ideal for the AM DX'ing enthusiast too. There is a built-in, defeatable, 90 minute sleep timer that automatically turns the radio off after 90 minutes so if you fall asleep the radio will not play all night long and run down the battery. You can now set the clock while the radio is playing. A wide and narrow switch on the front panel allows you to narrow the radio's bandwidth to reduce adjacent channel interference. A new SW/AM frequency lock circuit improves stability to reduce drift. There is a built-in telescopic antenna for FM and shortwave plus a built in ferrite bar antenna for AM. The back panel features a 75 ohm KOK antenna jack for FM and spring loaded terminals for 500 ohm AM/SW wire antenna and ground. There is also a 6 VDC input jack for the supplied AC adapter. The Grundig S350 has great sound quality. It offers many features like bass/treble, narrow and wide band width and gain control, just to name a few.
I find its compact design and superior sound not to mention the great reception is well worth the price. Amazon.com offered great shipping at a great price.

Radios are all about sound and the Grundig 350 has very good warm tones that are easy to listen to all day long. This radio can do very well as a table radio which is how I use it. The sound is solid with no distortion even if driven to full volume. This radio is a keeper for the sound alone.
As far as Am/Sw reception goes the Gundig 350 does very well provided you use external antennas to pull in the signals. The new added frequency lock works well to stop the drifting this radio was so infamous for. The Fm reception is very good pulling in many stations on the built in whip antenna and holding them rock steady.
If you want SSB ,or better Am/Sw signal capture, a full sized proper Communications Receiver is a better choice. That said, for every day casual listening ,on all bands offered on the Grundig, it does a fine job that will entertain one and all. This radio does Am/Sw well enough I can take my time now to find a deal on a decent older Communications Receiver in the used market. For now (maybe longer????) I'll just enjoy the Grundig.
All the controls on the Grundig work as they are supposed to instead of just being dials/switches to look good. Reading the well written manual will help the new user to gain full benefit of just what this radio can really do. One point about this radio that is little understood is the analog tuning. Analog tuning gives the user a way to really control this radio in ways not possible with electronic tuning while holding down the cost to enable Grundig to put in other features that normally would cost more. More bang for the buck 'cause you do your own tuning. Oh yes, I prefer analog tuning because I can slide right onto a weak signal I couldn't with electronic tuned radios.
Can I recommend the Grundig 350DL? Yes, as long as the buyer understands this is a first rate "casual" radio and they will not be disappointed at all.
Follow up after external indoor antenna added........
WOW!! Talk about an improvement!! A simple $2.50 300ohm wire dipole that I bought at the hardware store worked magic on this radio. I just hung the dipole & clipped it to the radio's antenna and this little radios was able to reach waaaaaaaaaay out there with ease. There is still the imaging problem but that is to be expected. That said, now I can listen to lots of stations that were not there before !!!!

Overall good radio, right out of the box it picked up some pretty far away stations. Night time listening of course is better between 6 and 12 khz. Expect to hear mostly religous and latin america stations. The knobs are easy to use but are somewhat generic feeling, there is some play in all of them. The antenna broke on me today so be careful if you plan on moving the radio alot. It would help if it had memory keys due to the many sw stations there are to choose from. The audio quality is great on the stronger stations, am reception is not as great as i expected. Its definatly not a professional grade redio, but good for the price and good for beginners.

Using it for some local FM stations it did not appear to hold the frequency and drifts slightly thus requiring some periodic fine tuning adjustments. Also, the rear battery door is flimsy. I ended up placing some duct tape over it to hold it in place. This I should not have to do!!!

I gave it to a friend as a gift and he is very happy with it. It works great and sounds good. With the line output jacks on it he can record to his mp3 player and listen at the same time.
