The self-calibrating, wireless unit measures both speed (in pedaling strokes per minute) and cadence , then provides feedback to the user for optimal performance. Purchased for use w/405. Easy to install and reads speed and cadence effectively. wireless is great. Also speed sensor is located on rear wheel which allows for speed reading when used on bike trainer. Nothing fancy...but do job as intended w/out hassle.

Great product. If you are looking for an inexpensive way to gather cadence and speed data during the winter months on the trainer this is the way to go. Do not expect the same speed as outdoors de to the resistance but this will still give great work data indoors and a good sensor outdoors too.

The Tech Details for the GSC-10 states "Attaches easily to any bicycle; 1-year warranty" Many retro or comfort cycle owners should verify there frame will allow alignment of the three parts to attach properly. The spoke magnet has to align with the GSC-10 sensor, not a problem.
On my Electra Townie, a comfort class bike, the pedal crank arm is located too far forward to allow alignment of the third sensor. The pedal crank arm magnet is required to align with the GSC-10 and the spoke magnet in order to measure your pedaling strokes per minute.
It is not critical for operation, but you will be unable to measure your pedaling strokes per minute. Although a general road touring cyclist, I did purchase the unit and the Edge 705 in order to measure everything I could. It was disappointing to learn AFTER the fact that I will miss a key measure.

I have had no problems with this sensor. It works perfect with my Forerunner 305. Good cadence and Speed sensor.

I'm a big fan of Garmin computers, and especially the mapping features of the 705. If there were any other computer that did what theirs does, the GSC-10's sensitivity to water would be an unacceptable design flaw. It's supplied with zip-ties (requiring a cutting tool to remove it), yet it won't tolerate even a small amount of water such as from washing one's bicycle or riding in light rain for over an hour. Garmin is honorable and will replace drowned GSC-10's under warranty. (I'm on my third one.) But it's really unacceptable to have to remove the sensor any time I wash my bike and any time rain is anticipated, and to have to do without it for a couple of weeks, or longer, any time I get rained on unexpectedly. They're replacing so many of these that, after a wet spring in the eastern USA, my last warranty replacement was backordered for five weeks.
