Amazon.com Product Description The E5965C from AT&T is a 5.8 GHz cordless phone with an all-digital answering system, dual keypads, and caller ID/call waiting compatibility. It utilizes the 5.8 GHz frequency along with frequency-hopping digital spread spectrum technology to provide clearer reception and less interference than traditional 2.4 GHz or 900 MHz phones. The answering machine provides up to 25 minutes of recording time, while remote operation lets you check messages even when you are away from home. | With just one phone jack, the system supports up to eight extensions throughout your home. | With multi-user expandability to eight handsets (one included), you place additional extensions wherever you need them, while intercom and conferencing functions allow you to communicate between handset locations or with multiple parties at once. A full-color graphical LCD on the handset provides a way to navigate the phone's many functions, including caller ID information. A 50-number caller ID memory and a 50-number internal phone directory help you keep track of important phone numbers. Additional features include speakerphones in both the base and handset and headset compatibility to provide hands-free communication options. Personalized ringing tones allow you to assign any of the polyphonic musical ring sounds to a phone directory entry, letting you know when a specific party is calling. The E5965C has an 8.5-by-8.7-inch footprint and is wall-mountable, freeing up countertop space completely. It is backed by a one-year warranty. What's in the Box Base, wall mounting adapter, cordless handset, two telephone line cords, AC adapter, two AA NiMH batteries, belt clip, user's manual

Excellent Phone March 15, 2010 Rumiss (Alabama) This is an excellent cordless Phone. I've had mine for about 8 years now and it's just now worn out the rechargeable batteries. I have the additional phone and charging stand as well. These phones have been through a lot. I have a fifteen year old boy and a 9 year old boy and one or both of them have spilled some kind of liquid on these phones and both still work. The buttons stick now but they still work just fine. I plan to buy new rechargeable batteries for them both rather than buying another cordless. It's hard to beat this product. You can be sitting on your couch and it will tell you who is calling. NICE FEATURE!!!
Disappointed January 30, 2009 Sally A. Cadmus (New Jersey) I was looking forward to getting this phone, but first of all, I wanted a phone that was wall-mountable. This was advertised as such, but the bracket was missing and the seller didn't have one. I was going to try to locate one, but then I decided to at least try the phone first. I fully charged the battery and used it to make a local call. The clarity was very good, but then I noticed that it was echoing a little bit. The deciding factor came when after 15 minutes on the phone, the battery just died. This phone has some very good features, but the bottom line was it just didn't measure up so I sent it back.
cordless wonder December 8, 2008 Tyler J. Hoyt Love everything about this phone. Works great, battery has held up well. Easy to program. Lots of nifty "cell phone" like extras. Only beef is the screen is convex and easily scratched if you set it on a flat surface face down. I wish I had bought a screen protector for it.
Great value with many features October 27, 2008 S. Barrett (Santa Cruz, CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
AT&T E5965C 5.8 GHz Cordless Answering System with Speakerphone Caller ID
I replaced a failing Panasonic corded phone with this compact cordless model after testing several at my local electronics store. I chose the AT&T E5965C for a number of reasons-style, the feel of the handset (solid), ease of use and functionality. A belt clip and wall mount are included.
What I got was a well made, attractive and multi-functional unit with expansion capability (up to eight handsets). Programming was easy, the standard message simple and clear enough to use without adding a custom message, even though I did add my own.
There are separate phonebooks in the handset and the base, each capable of storing up to 50 entries, and the handset screens incoming messages. Call transfer, 3-way conference calls and last number redial are additional functions of this unit.
Two lithium batteries are included (Note: directions state only lithium batteries should be used)/
Caller ID and Call Waiting are included capabilities if you subscribe to these services.
Both handset and base are programmable with features such as ringer volume, ringer melody, remote access, and caller log review.
All in all, this is an easy phone to set up and one that offers superior performance.
Recommended.
Unreliable in the long run June 7, 2008 Michelle C. Wagner-suziedelis (Virginia) I loved this phone when I first got it but about a year later the problems started to crop up. We have the main base station and an extra handset and charger. The LCD on one of the handsets no longer lights up and as a result the characters are so dark that it's hard to see the caller id or to choose an entry from the phone book's memory. Now the second handset has a broken 0 zero; we can no longer anyone in our local area codes (703, 301 and 202). This past week we had an electrical storm and an extended power outage. Ever since the power was returned both handsets has a lot of white noise when you are making calls but when I use my OLD corded phone on the same phone jack and rj-11 cable, the corded phone is very clear. Now I want to throw both of them directly in the TRASH!
