Love that point stick. November 17, 2009 Louis Lyon I got this keyboard after replacing my IBM T60p with an Compaq (HP) 6910p and didn't like the Compaq keyboard. The TrackPoint stick on this keyboard is much better than HP's, and I like the keyboard layout better too. The full size num pad is handy and the keys are responsive. Because of the great point stick I wouldn't get any other keyboard. The only things I don't like are the function keys and arrow keys are not full size (as on a laptop), and occasionally the left and right button keys for the point stick either don't register or register twice. The touchpad left and right buttons always work correctly.
Poorly built September 27, 2009 W. Ibge I love the trackpoint system, I used a SpaceSavers II happily for several years. But now computers don't have PS2 ports, so I bought the new UltraNav USB keyboard.
I got my first one in February. It seems cheaply built, but worked while enough. Keys got stuck a lot, right clicking worked about 80% of the time. It shocked me once or twice a day, but it had the essential TrackPoint. Then in September the keyboard stopped working. If I hit any key it either does nothing or repeats it infinitely until I unplug it. Though the mouse works fine.
So I bought another one. And it's worse. Left clicking only works about 50% of the time, and holding down the mouse button fires intermitantly, so it's nearly impossible to select text. It also shocks me several times a day.
I don't know what to do, is Lenovo going to make a better quality trackpoint keyboard? These keyboards are really expensive, but I'd happily pay it if it worked as well as the laptop keyboards. Are there any other manufacturers? Should I try to transition to a different input device?
"Customer Support"? September 18, 2009 S. TAYLOR (Utah) This IBM keyboard worked pretty well out of the box, with the exception of the control-c, control-x, control-v functions, and some significant hang-ups with installing the software.I called Lenovo customer support and explained the problem. The very pleasant Lenovo representative asked almost immediately, "are you plugging this into an IBM product?" I explained that I was not. She replied, "Then please call the manufacturer of the computer you are using and troubleshoot the problem with them first. If they can't help you, then call us.
I explained that I could not imagine how to contact the "manufacturer" of my computer. If manufacturer means assembler, I suppose that's me. I had already done all the troubleshooting I could figure. The customer support person replied that she really couldn't offer me any other support, and when I asked for any suggestions she might make, she invited me to reinstall the software.
My Logitech keyboard had been working fine prior to installing the Lenovo keyboard , and fortunately still does. That's the keyboard I'll be using in the future.

Way way way too flexy May 2, 2009 S. Wainner (USA) Did I mention that this keyboard is flexy? Way too flexy? It is. Couldn't use it. Sent it back. I don't want to be annoyed while typing.
If you love ThinkPads, you'll love the feel of this keyboard February 3, 2009 L. YEE (kuala lumpur, malaysia) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have used a few models of ThinkPad for the past 13 years. I started with ThinkPad 760, then 570, then T20, T41 and am using a T60 now. For years, I could not imagine typing on another notebook. The feel of a ThinkPad keyboard is unmatched. And I am so used to the placement of the keys (eg Page Up/Page Down, the volume control, etc) that I can't imagine my finger on another area of the keyboard. And I love the Trackpoint, that red little pointer.
When I built my own Core 2 Quad desktop, naturally I'd like to look for a good keyboard and while this keyboard is pricey, I have no regrets about getting it! It works great - for work and for gaming.. the familiarity and feel of the keyboard was excellent for a desktop PC. The Trackpoint and Touchpad and Volume control buttons worked instantly without having to be configured (on a Vista OS). Fn F4 puts my PC into the Standby. Fn NumLk brings up the calculator (new to a ThinkPad user).
My only gripe - no Windows button. But it didn't stop me from giving this keyboard a 5-star :)
Oh, I need to mention this. My friend bought the ThinkPad USB Travel Keyboard (not the same as the keyboard being reviewed). The Travel keyboard does not have the numpad and thus it is shorter and in the same footprint (size) as a ThinkPad. The other important difference is that the Travel keyboard has shorter USB cable.. so if you are like me and is buying this keyboard for desktop PC and your desktop PC sits underneath your table, you need THIS keyboad, not the Travel one, as this keyboard has a longer cable.
