If you have a Firewire 400 drive and you just bought a new MacBook Pro, you NEED one of these to get to your data!
It made it so simple to connect, just as before.

I'm sure this will be a good product to have especially if you have a new mac power book that has NO 400 fire wire port,but I have not received it yet from the seller in the time frame that was estimated.

I purchased this product in order to make it compatible between Lexar Professional Card Reader and my iMac. iMac from Apple (duo core 2) uses 6-pin fire wire connection when Lexar had 800 speed 9-pin cable connection plug. I had the Lexar dual-chained and slaved to a 400 port. This is a good cable to bridges the old and new technologies. Belkin is trustworthy always.
