This is a quality product August 16, 2008 I looked at these for a couple months before I bought one. Amazon had the best price at the time I bought mine. This product is well made and very sturdy and has several adjustment and installation options. I am using it with a 19" Planar LCD. What more to say, this thing is great and worth every penny! Thanx Amazon!
Ergotron 45-174-300 August 1, 2008 It's a very decent mount. Comes with everything you need. I wish it had a longer extension arm. And the arms are somewhat stiff when you try to move the screen.
Very good adjustment options July 27, 2008 I purchased two arms for a dual monitor setup. Setting up was not that difficult and adjustment options are pretty impressive. The only problem I encountered was with using one of the hex wrenches to loosen and tighten the joints. One literally snapped under the pressure, so be careful with the included tools which seem to be of much lower quality than the arms. Both arms work very well for adjusting height, position, and rotating the monitors between landscape and portrait modes.
Great product July 18, 2008 I bought this desk-mount arm based on the positive reviews I read from other people and I have to agree that this is a great product. I also agree with a few mentions of the arm being factory tightened too tight in some places so that it is almost impossible to loosen and adjust as freely as I would like. Getting my PC monitor off of my desk is bonus enough for me so the few limitations aren't enough to deter me from enjoying this item overall.
Good at this price point May 21, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought 2 of these - one for my little 17" secondary monitor and one for my wifes 24" primary montor.
On the 17", everything went very smoothly and setup was simple. The one issue you should keep in mind with this arm is that it's tight - very tight, so when you attach a lightweight monitor to it, you'll need more than average force to move it into place.
On the 24", things were more interesting. Technically, this arm isn't rated for a monitor this large, but as I've discovered with other arms, the size of the monitor is mostly irrelevant - it's the weight you have to keep in mind and the 24" monitor fell under the weight this arm is rated for, so that wasn't the problem. The issue we ran into with this montor arm is not really a "full range of motion" arm. Its range of up/down movement is much more limited than you find on other, more expnsive arms - at a guess, I'd say you only have 20 or 25 degrees of motion you can move it through. This meant that we couldn't actually mount the arm where we wanted to on her desk and had to find an alternative, which, after an hour of futzing around, we did and all was well.
So, while this is a fine arm for the money and definately better than any others I've seen for this price, you do get some limitations that come with it. Overall, it's perfect for my small 17" secondary monitor, but if I were buying for my wifes monitor again, I'd probably buy another Ergotron LX like I use for my 28" main montor because of the overall range of motion it gives.
