Good cards, but poor warranty performance from Sandisk August 29, 2008 I have five of these Sandisk Extreme III CF cards. They are very fast and have mostly been reliable (hence the three-star review). However, there is more to this product than merely the item itself. The other question is how efficiently the manufacturer handles things in the event of failure. I recently had one of these cards fail and I have been disappointed by Sandisk's warranty service.
The situation was very straightforward. The card failed. I lost only one photo. No data needed to be recovered. I had all the information available, including a copy of my receipt to prove that I am the original owner. After two weeks, I am still sending follow-up messages to Sandisk asking them for a return authorization, and getting no response. Sandisk has not actually declined to replace the card -- but their process, which was already rather slow, has led to a dead-end.
Several years ago, I had a Lexar CF card fail. It was a quite different experience. They replaced the card promptly. I recognize that all electronics products can fail -- but the real test is how well the manufacturer responds when that happens. My next CF card will be a Lexar, not a Sandisk.
Great memory for Canon 40D August 26, 2008 I have had this memory card for nine months. It's the best that I have owned. It functions flawlessly with my Canon 40D. Excellent speed. I can't say enough positive things about this excellent product. I take it out of the camera and insert into a reader, to take photos off the card. I have never had a problem, after many thousands of photos and numerous insertions into the card reader and the camera.
Fast and reliable. August 17, 2008 I only had it for about a week, and so far it's been fast and reliable, the only thing I wish it was a bit cheaper.
F-a-s-t card - great with my Oly E-500 August 17, 2008 The Olympus E-500 is known for being able to write to CF cards very fast. This card - as advertised - is very fast. I chose this card specifically because of the camera's ability to write fast and my desire to use RAW format - which on this camera is about 13mb per picture. While I don't use it for sports or drive mode, it easily keeps up with multiple shots in a row. The 4gb capacity also helps with so many big files! It's the perfect card for this camera.
Great performer August 15, 2008 I use it for both, file storage and dSLR camera medium. It's fast and so far reliable (6 months). I give it 4 stars instead of 5 just beacuse I think the price difference between this one and Ultra II is not justified. So Ultra II is great, Extreme III is better, but not that much.
