Product Description Based on the British television series of the same name that became a sensation abroad Showtime's QUEER AS FOLK quickly became as big a hit in the US as the original was overseas. Focusing on the lives of five gay men in Pittsburgh--Michael an insecure 29 year-old; Brian an ad executive who isn't into relationships; Justin a wide-eyed and innocent 17 year-old; Emmett a flamboyant jack-of-all-trades; and Ben an HIV-positive college professor--and their circle of friends the series has earned both critical praise and scorn for its unflinching look at gay life love and sex. Whatever one may think of the show's sexual content QUEER AS FOLK is an undeniably compelling funny moving and thought-provoking series. This collection presents the entire five-season run of the groundbreaking show. Genre: TELEVISION/SERIES & SEQUELS UPC: 097361302744 Manufacturer No: 130274

Gay or Straight August 31, 2008 If you've never watched it, you should. If you've watched it before, you should watch it again. This is Showtime's greatest series by far- the edgy, gay Sex in the City.
We Don't Have to Miss Liberty Avenue August 28, 2008 "Queer as Folk": The Complete Series
We Don't Have to Miss Liberty Avenue
Amos Lassen
"Queer as Folk" did a great deal for the GLBT community in that is was the first television series to look at the gay lifestyle in depth and it did so in a way that both entertained us and engrossed us. Looking back at the series, I see that it depicted what it was like to be gay as we approached the new millennium. Now you can have the entire series--all 78 episodes with all the extras--on 28 discs. There is also a bonus disc that reunites the cast for the first time and it is amazing. I love the series and I never get bored watching it and I also realize how much I miss it. The characters became my friends and their adventures are so real that it is easy to relate to them. Here is a show that deserves a special place in the annals of the GLBT experience in America. It is a rich account of gay life as it existed just a few years ago and much of it is still relevant to today. Sure some of the series is exaggerated and perhaps hard to watch because of the situations that may not apply to everyone but it does warm the heart on one hand and titillates on the other. A word about the reunion--it was a bit difficult to see some of the insecurities of some of the actors but when remembering how terrific they are in the series, it allows you to overlook that detail.
great show and great box set! August 14, 2008 I never watched any of queer as folk when it was on showtime, but started a couple of months ago. Once I started watching I couldnt stop. It really is a good show with a story line. Is there a lot of sex..yes..but there is a story line and does have characters that everyone can relate to..from the sex god, to the nerdy kid at heart, the out and proud drama queen or the closet Republican. The boxset its self was very well made and I didnt have any scratches on the disc. It was def worth the money and def recommend the show to anyone. It is a queer version of desperate housewives that tackles issues like love, gay bashing and aids. A+ show!!
What a gorgeous collector set! July 29, 2008 This collector set is simply wonderful. It contains all the episodes in an elegant and sleek white box. The DVDs are easily accessible and well protected. A real treat for the fans of this cult series.
An Amazing Series July 27, 2008 I can't even begin to describe how amazing this show is. The first episode of Queer as Folk, full of interesting cinematography, realistic characters, and great storylines draws you in for a five season journey with the men and women of Liberty Avenue. Every episode is full of heart, and covers issues like no other television show. This is a show that is truly amazing.
Although I've read some complaints about the packaging of the complete series, all of my discs were fine. A few of them, mostly from the first season, had slipped out of their places, but there were no scratches, and I've had no problems playing any of the discs.
Buy this series right now. You shan't regret it.
