Disappointing for a Sony November 18, 2009 J. Stokes (USA) I've had this unit for about 4 months now and have been pretty disappointed. For Sony, the performance and design has been disappointing. The player frequently freezes while playing a dvd, I put the dvd in another player and it plays fine. I'm not that impressed with the controls either. As they're smooth touch controls, you can't feel them, and they're not illuminated, so when it's dark, they're very difficult to find.
Best Picture November 17, 2009 R. Harvey (Dutch Harbor, Alaska) Best picture quality & travel companion I ever purchased. Can play up to 3 movies on one battery charge. light weight/all you need are headphones ; a carrying case & away you go.
Wife's DVD player November 17, 2009 jimo104 (Grand Canyon, AZ) Bought this for my wife. who is in Alaska for two months, and she couldn't be more thrilled. Great picture and sound quality and works very well hooked up to a larger television.
Piece of Junk November 14, 2009 Julie Burr Gamboa (San Diego, CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Very disappointed in this product. In 1.5 years it has broken down on us 2 times. Initially the parts were covered, but after 1 year parts and labor aren't covered and at 11 months it broke a 2nd time with a different problem. Initial problem was movie would skip or would stop and freeze. 2nd problem is that movie plays but screen is black. They said it would be about $145 to fix and unit cost $170. What a joke. Then they felt bad and offered 25% discount, but that is still over $100 and it appears to be a lemon. Why would I pay that just to have it break down again. Very disappointed!! I picked sony because of it's name, but apparently Sony doesn't sell good portable DVD players.
Best portable player in the market November 11, 2009 Abul Mohsin (Valencia, CA, USA) Best portable player in the market. Period. Both high-resolution picture and enhanced sound quality are just awesome. After a thorough research on different portables online and in the physical shops, we finally decided on Sony FX-930. The default setting is far better than any other settings. Pretty light-weight for us and happy with the battery life so far.
Indeed an awesome purchase in this category. Wouldn't consider any ohter brand or model over this if I have to buy one more (as a gift to someone else), unless Sony comes up with newer and better version.
