Product Description Embrace the dark side every day with this animated Darth Vader USB hub. His eyes light up red as he moves his head from side to side and performs his trademark heavy breathing. | Customer Reviews: Great for a second, but just gets old quickly December 8, 2009 Timothy A. Coonfield 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
So I got this for all the obvious reasons -- the perfect convergence of geekiness. A computer accessory featuring Darth Vader. When I opened the box up, there was no disappointment. The Vader mold is not the highest quality construction, but it's solid enough and is a spot on likeness. When you plug in a device, the head turns and the eyes light up, and you're rewarded with the fantastic lightsaber sound. I couldn't have been happier at this point.
Then I left him plugged in. Every few minutes, the head would do a quick pan across the room and you'd get the audio of Darth Vader's signature breathing. The first couple times, I thought it was great. But it just keeps going and gets old quickly. You can turn off the sound of the breathing, but you're still left with the motorized head, and the servos make a good bit of noise. So now the head just sits on my desk unplugged.
I still like it a lot and it makes a great show-off piece, but I don't think I'll ever leave it plugged in as a fully functioning USB port. Really just needs a way to leave it plugged in without the sound and motion at all.
Must have for a Vader fan! October 6, 2009 Donald J. Paulin (Pawtucket, R.I.) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I love this product. Being a Star Wars fan, and even more of a Darth Vader fan, I simply had to have this. Plug Vader into a USB port in your computer and it gives you 4 more ports. So what you ask? Well does your 4 port converter have glowing red eyes and have sound effects? I didn't think so. Vader's eyes light up and he makes his traditional breathing sound every now and then. And, when you plug something into one of the expansion ports, the light saber sound can be heard. I think I just like having Darth by my laptop more than anything else, even if I don't use the extra ports.

The item is great for collectors but makes constant noise when plugged in, which is annoying!!!
