I originally purchased the kindle DX as I am a student and the larger screen and PDF components were attractive. I was not impressed by the internet exposure as the formatting was not to scale for the screen. When I received the DX I was taken aback by how heavy it was. I had a lot of difficulty trying to transfer PDF's to my DX and gave up with no success. Before the 30 days were up I returned the DX and received a full refund without difficulty.
I ordered the Kindle 2 as I enjoyed the idea of the reader and the easy downloading of books from amazon, as well as the competitive pricing of books. For the Kindle 2 I ordered a film to cover the screen and am very pleased with the purchase. I love my Kindle 2 and find the weight to be realistic for carrying in my purse and comfortable for reading. The Kindle 2 has button to turn the page on both sides of the device that is very handy. It does not rotate the text when turned from side to side but there is no reason for that detail as the item is not so heavy one would need to shift the weight. I was able to go the the amazon site and transfer all of my reading material from my DX to my Kindle 2 with ease. I highly recommend the kindle 2 as I am delighted with having books delivered instantly and my library at my fingertips. I also like the keyboard on the kindle 2. I am able to highlight text and write notes that are useful in my academic studies.

Bought for my wife and she is very pleased with the device. We took with us overseas, the additional wireless fees for getting books outside the US are a little high but we can avoid by downloading to PC and sync through USB. It would be better if there were no extra fees to download material outside the US.

No, the Kindle is not perfect. But it has in one day revolutionized the way I read. I'm impressed by the design; they have thought out where to put all the buttons and how best to navigate through your library.
And you can surf the web?! For research purposes this was a surprise feature I was not looking for.
I can read faster because I am not flipping pages, and can quickly read something different at a moments whim. As a child growing up in the 80's reading plenty of
science fiction, I could not have imagined in my lifetime being able to have my whole library in the palm of my hand...and accessing/reading my library AS IF it were only one book. Wow; I am in love with this well-designed bit of technology!

This is the best product I ever bought. I really enjoy being able to get the books wirelessly and it is so easy to do. It is better than having to lug around books all the time. So great that it will be a christmas gift for my mother, an avid reader.
