 Porn Collection Solved. Great device with in its parameters March 8, 2008

Like any piece of Tech out there you just have to know its parameters and what are the main functions you are looking to recieve, if they match your good to go. So here is a list of its pro's n con's i have found. The picture viewer on here is decent but it does not let you set speed options ect. you can listen to your music on this device also but once again is that realy what your purchasing it for if it has video features? If i wanted an MP3 Player i would buy one. The pictures viewer does not push out a decent resolution, i had a bunch of pics at 1920 x 1200 and they looked pretty bad on here, i had a digital picture frame that put out a better picture quality. So then what does it do, it does what i bought it forit plays movies! I put 160gb hard drive in it, then compressed a HUGE library I have of moves from there native DVD file at about 5 to 7 GB per disc and compressed all the way down to about 750mb to 1gb per movie as an AVI file at its native resolution at 640 x 480. One thing though, it sais it does play mpeg4 but it only does in DIVX format, I was not about to convert everything to a propriatary format so your better with sticking to AVI's at 640 x 480. What i end up with? A movie collection in almost the same quality in the palm of my hands. 200 movies, with remote, never touch a disc and get finger prints on i.it. Does get warm so dont have it in tight quarters let it breath and DONT plug it in to your computer in the USB if you have the power cable pluged in your drive! It will short it out and could short out your usb port on your computer. Its only to have the power cable in when your having it conected to the TV through the AV Cables. Never typed one of these so hope this was useful.

I picked one of these up at a local computer store and used an old 6gb laptop HDD I had lying around. The user manual grammar is quite comical. Lost in translation? Does not really tell you how to install the drive in the case "danger to open case...not recommend". Was not that difficult though. once i had the drive formatted and copied 5Gb worth of images to it, I plugged it directly into an old 14" lcd that also was not being used. I glued a matted photo frame onto the front of the LCD. It's very nice looking. Downside: the VGA output is only 640x480 due to the internal video processor limits. May not look so good on a larger LCD. One other beef I have is that I cannot get the picture play rate to slow down. Seems to change every 5 seconds. The slow button on the remote is inhibited. The device does get a little warm due to it's small size and cramped quarters. For $35 it's a small price to pay for a device like this. A 15" digital photo frame would run you at least $200!
 Don't waste your money December 29, 2007
If you need an external usb enclosure, there are plenty of good ones that cost much less than this. The media player is mediocre at best. The menu is very difficult to navigate and the file system makes it hard to find files quickly and easily. You also have to separate the drive into multiple partitions. A poor choice unless you are desperate to throw your money away.
DIVX 6.x not compatible November 7, 2007

most of these multimediaplayer harddrives are NOT compatible with the Divx 6.x standards out there for about a year now, and as well NOT compatible with the new quicktime 4 format also used by most pros out there.
in contradiction to what they advertise for ....
but these items are usually "ONLY" compatible with older Divx version up to 5.x, which needless to say, NO ONE uses any more for a year now.
so dont be surprised if your downloaded avi or divx or mov movies from the internet just will not play, and also dont be suprised if customer service is not reachable , and if it is, then they will only very reluctantly admit to the lack of compatibility of their players.
if you are not sure, call the manufacturers guys, ask them about this, and let them know what we consumers need...

i bought this product and i don't recommand to buy it
because i tried two of them but it doesn't work as player (with TV)
it just work as hard drive
