Amazing Quality December 2, 2008 It definitely looks and feels like a high quality product. Installing was not too complicated, though for me it was a minor hassle dealing with all the spare cables/connectors. I replaced my 420W, not only to save energy (this one's around 80% efficient, whereas my previous one is only 60%) but also because I plan on upgrading some hardware in the near future. All in all, great rock-solid product.
First Time Installation November 21, 2008 I bought the Corsair TX750W to replace an Antec 550HE that burnt out. I've never replaced a power supply unit before, but I got good results with this one. So here are some tips that may help you.
First, I would recommend that you measure the space inside your case before you buy this (or any) PSU. According to the Corsair website, this PSU measures 5.9"(W) x 3.4"(H) X 6.3"(L). During installation, I had to temporarily remove a fan and 2 DVD drives in order to get enough room to move it into position.
The Corsair's fan is big, but quiet. I had it pointing towards the middle of the case so that any hot air would be pulled out by one of the exhaust fans at the rear of my case. To be honest, though, the PSU didn't seem to generate much heat in the first place.
There are a lot of cables sticking out of the PSU, but it wasn't a big deal for me because I pretty much used 1 connector on each cable. In the end, I ended up not using 3 PCI-E cables. Since the PSU is NOT modular, you can't remove the extra cables, so I simply tied them up inside my case.
Overall, I am happy with the Corsair. If I upgrade my PC, I may keep it and hook up the new parts to it.
Current config:
Thermaltake Kandalf case w/ 4 fans AMD Athlon 64 3800+ 2.4 GHz 2 GB RAM EVGA GeForce 7800 GT 256 MB 2 DVD-RW drives 2 SATA hard drives Windows XP Pro SP3
Great PSU November 6, 2008 I originally bought this to replace a what I thought to be a defective power supply unit. Well after installing this unit I discovered it was actually the motherboard that had gone south on me. However, since this was so a nice powerful unit, I decided to build a gaming system around it. I am now running a SLI (2 8800gt's) gaming system with no problems what so ever. This PSU is a great looking and powerful unit, with plenty of room for expandability!
Great little power supply! October 30, 2008 Bought this unit after going thru several of the cheaper units that are available out there. You can tell this is a quality power supply as soon as you see it. No problems so far, quiet, and smooth....
Excellent power supply October 28, 2008 I won't write much but I will Say this PSU is a beast. The price here was lower than the 550w Corsair on Newegg. Corsair makes quality products that last. Works like it's suppose to. Nothing bad about it. Lots of power. It's just wonderful. I'm happy.
