Product Description The IP35 Pro is geared towards extreme performance. Accompanying the native support for Intel's latest multi-core and future 45 nm CPUs, Abit took measures for an even higher performance potential to be explored by the users themselves. 100% Japanese made solid state capacitors warrant the best electrical characteristics under the most stable currents. Abit's patented Silent OTES convection heat-pipe design keeps the Northbridge as well as the PWMs efficiently cool. These Abit engineered features prolong the life of your motherboard product and dramatically increase durability by protecting vital components from strenuous thermal and electrical stress. The onboard Power/Reset switches make testing your setup outside the case even more convenient. An external CCMOS reset switch eliminates the need to open the case again, in case you have tuned it too far. Abit puts you in the pole position for off limits computing. The IP35 Pro motherboard does not only have extreme power under the hood, it is also ready for full on gaming and multimedia action. Two X16 PCIe slots offer a wide range of multiple graphics options. Despite one of the X16 PCIe slots only supporting PCIe X4 bandwidth, it still caters adequately to most of today's graphics needs, including dual-graphics. Alternatively you can also use this slot for other PCIe cards such as LAN, RAID, TV or audio add-on cards. A simple and flexible solution that serves almost any high-speed expansion demands. The 3-pin HDMI header connects with HDMI ready graphics cards, offering crisp HD audio.6 internal SATA 3Gb/s and 2 eSATA connectors for the fastest hard drives on the market form the basis for more than sufficient storage capacity, while the Ultra DMA 133/100/66/33 IDE connector provides the option to keep your older optical drives and HDDs running.

Not for the faint-hearted October 26, 2008 Have owned this Board since January 2008, and it has performed almost flawlessly, except for the following: 1. Abit monitoring software(UGURU) doesn't play nice with Vista x64-SP-1, and I've had to uninstall UGURU. 2. The SATA connectors are at right angel to board, so almost impossible to change cables w/o disassembling some or all of your system. 3. You will most likely need a BIOS update(17 is latest) and you will need a FDD to do it. 4. ABIT e-mail support has always been next to non-existent, and now ABIT seems to be getting out of the MoBo business[...]
On the plus side, the board has been stable, a good OC'er, and the external BIOS clear/reset switch, a godsend, and the user-supported ABIT forum is indispensable, with lots of good tips and advice from knowledgeable users.
Decent motherboard, but the BIOS... July 24, 2008 To the average user, the newer Intel chipsets (P45, X38, X48, etc) do not add enough features to justify their higher prices, so the P35 remains a viable choice for value buyers, but you should not pay more than $150, which is the price for low-end p45 boards as of July, 2008.
This motherboard is fairly mature and uses quality components. Although the abit software (uguru) does not work with 64-bit Windows, overall I was quite happy with it until I tried to update the BIOS. Most experts advise that one should leave the BIOS alone unless absolutely necessary. Well, the built-in gigabit Ethernet ports began having intermittent problems reaching full speed after a recent Windows update. Although I suspect a Microsoft bug, it seemed to make sense to try the latest BIOS version first. (It turned out that Vista SP1 requires a new Intel driver for the P35 chipset.)
I was surprised to find that Abit recommends floppy disk as the media for the operation. Unfortunately, my last floppy-equipped machine was junked three years ago, so I went with the alternative, a Windows application from Abit. The job failed, and I was surprised a second time to find that this supposedly high-end motherboard does not support dual BIOS. It does have a boot sector backup, so one can try updating the BIOS again IF he has a floppy.
After I purchased a shiny new floppy drive, however, it still took me three tries before the BIOS update went through correctly. The most frustrating part of this exercise was the fact that the installation program simply froze after the action no matter what, so I had no way of knowing whether the operation was successful until rebooting into Windows and experiencing various strange problems (in the first two tries). All in all, a big time waster.
Great Motherboard!! June 3, 2008 Awesome Motherboard. very easy to Overclock and configure the way you need. I wish the fan Voltages would go lower than 8v, but otherwise a very stable board. The onboard POST LED indicator is a major plus.
I was able to overclock my Q6600 to 3.02 with Kingston Value Ram @667Mhz with Zero problems on the 1st try. I am tweaking more out of the system. It is very easy to work with.
