Editorial Reviews:

Product Description

Personal vendettas, hidden treasure, and a monkey named Carl will send bounty hunter Stephanie Plum on her most explosive adventure yet.

The Crime: Armed robbery to the tune of nine million dollars

Dom Rizzi robbed a bank, stashed the money, and did the time. His family couldn’t be more proud. He always was the smart one.

The Cousin: Joe Morelli

Joe Morelli, Dom Rizzi, and Dom’s sister, Loretta, are cousins. Morelli is a cop, Rizzi robs banks, and Loretta is a single mother waiting tables at the firehouse. The all-American family.

The Complications: Murder, kidnapping, destruction of personal property, and acid reflux

Less than a week after Dom’s release from prison, Joe Morelli has shadowy figures breaking into his house and dying in his basement. He’s getting threatening messages, Loretta is kidnapped, and Dom is missing.

The Catastrophe: Moonman

Morelli hires Walter “Mooner” Dunphy, stoner and “inventor” turned crime fighter, to protect his house. Morelli can’t afford a lot on a cop’s salary, and Mooner will work for potatoes.

The Cupcake: Stephanie Plum

Stephanie and Morelli have a long-standing relationship that involves sex, affection, and driving each other nuts. She’s a bond enforcement agent with more luck than talent, and she’s involved in this bank-robbery-gone-bad disaster from day one.

The Crisis: A favor for Ranger

Security expert Carlos Manoso, street name Ranger, has a job for Stephanie that will involve night work. Morelli has his own ideas regarding Stephanie’s evening activities.

The Conclusion: Only the fearless should read Fourteen.

Thrills, chills, and incontinence may result.

4 out of 5 stars A good read, but not worth buying   July 24, 2008

I love Janet Evanovich and the Stephanie Plum series, but like most other reviewers have said, the content is getting old. While there may not be any exploding cars in this one (opposed to the other 13), it's still farily predictable. Although the material was a little stale, it was still a fun read. I'd get it from the library and read it at the pool...not purchase it or activley make time to read it.

5 out of 5 stars She did it again!   July 24, 2008

Another great installment in the Stephanie Plum series. Lots of humor and suspense, I couldn't put it down!! Can't wait to continue the saga!

Another great book by Evanovich. The saga of Stephanie Plum continues, she finds trouble but always finds a way out. Her crazy family never fails to make you laugh. Cant wait to see what happens next.

4 out of 5 stars Douglas Mallach   July 24, 2008

My professor at lexington, Douglas Mallach recommended this book as a commentary on crime in America. It is indeed an insightful take on the criminal element and its methods. This was the third book Douglas Mallach has recommended. If you see a recommendation from Douglas Mallach, get the book!

4 out of 5 stars My expectations were a little too high, maybe.   July 23, 2008

I've always enjoyed reading these books, but I was a little disappointed in this one. Yeah it was funny, but it doesn't compare to some of the older books. I agree with some of the other reviews that the books are starting to seem a little rushed. I wish the whole Ranger or Morelli thing would just be decided already. You can only continue doing the same thing for so long before it gets to be a little boring and un-interesting. The relationship that she has with both men just isn't as entertaining as it used to be. I just felt that the book was lacking something compared to previous books. I will continue to read them though as she one of my favorite authors. I just hope the next one is better.
