Book Description Ahriman is a significant figure of Persian mythology. Rudolf Steiner, however, spoke of Ahriman as an actual, living spiritual entity. This being, he said, works to embed human beings firmly into their physicality, thus encouraging dull, materialistic attitudes and a coarse, dry intellect. In these extraordinary lectures, Steiner assumes a rare prophetic mode. He talks about an actual incarnation of Ahriman on Earth and the potential consequences of this event. Just as Christ incarnated in a physical body, so would Ahriman incarnate in the Western worldbefore "a part" of the third millennium has passed. Steiner places this incarnation in the context of a "cosmic triad" that includes Ahriman, Lucifer, and Christ. Ahriman will incarnate as a counterpoint to the physical incarnation of Lucifer, which took place in the East during the third millennium B.C. The incarnation of Jesus Christ took place in Palestine as the point of balance between the two. During the period when Steiner developed Anthroposophya teaching career of more than twenty years that included over than six thousand lectureshe spoke of Ahriman's incarnation only six times. For the first time, these six lectures (plus a supporting excerpt) are reproduced in their entirety in a single volume.

Greatest Single Rudolf Steiner Book June 29, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
In "The Incarnation of Ahriman," Steiner lectures have been assembled to produce the single greatest of the many now-available one-volume Steiner lectures collections.
"The Incarnation of Ahriman" is the greatest Steiner book, I believe, for several reasons: (1) It is incredibly relevant to today. Most true Steiner appreciators I speak with quickly state it's remarkable how relevant Steiner's early 20th century lectures are to today's world, but I've never encountered anything by Steiner that seems this relevant, and could be perhaps stated by Steiner today, were he alive today, without changing much if anything.
(2) This book is very clearly written, and hard-hitting. Steiner's work, many people will also tell you, is frequently abstract and hard to totally understand and internally reconcile without contradictions and with plausible and not too far-out or incredulous conclusions, even for the Steiner fan and very sympathetic reader. But here, while I won't say I necessarily 100% agree with everything asserted even in this lectures volume, Steiner is extremely clear, hard-hitting, and seemingly "on the money."
(3) The subject matter and specific assertions in this book are not only relevant today so much, but also penetrating, exilhirating, in correspondence with most of Steiner's writings about Christ, and solid. I can't go into the subject matter more specifically because it is so precious and perhaps controversial. I will say that one amazing conclusion a careful reader can take from this book, is despite all the seriousness, dedication, brilliance, and new revelation the early Christian Gnostic movement can be said to have embodied, and Steiner essentially acknowledges all that, they missed the truth, Steiner convincingly states, versus a spiritual scientific, or in other words, his own Christological views, as indicated not only here, I would myself interject more openly possibly than stated in this book, but in some of Steiner's other Christian writings such as "From Jesus To Christ" (see my other review) and "The Fifth Gospel" and possibly "Christianity As Mystical Fact."

Great book detailing the polarity of the universe and the spirits that represent it. A reason that exstremist are always wrong and the middle path is the best and the only way to progress with any balance in your life. I recomend this book.
