Product Description Getting a good score on the Miller Analogies Test is often a prerequisite for academic postgraduate study, or for high-level placement in some prominent business firms. It is a 100-question, 50-minute exam that presents verbal analogies in the form of multiple-choice questions in a way that measures both the test taker's analytical skills and his or her general knowledge of history, culture, and world events. This newly updated manual presents a diagnostic pretest and 10 complete practice MAT exams with answers explained plus approximately 1100 additional practice questions with answers. There is also extensive advice on solving analogy problems, short-entry definitions of terms that often appear on the MAT, and tips on coping with test anxiety.

Pretty good test prep book! September 21, 2008 I haven't taken the test yet, but feel that this book prepares me much more than Kaplan's MAT book. The practice tests are harder, which is very helpful. And there are a lot of them! I would recommend this book.
The only thing that could improve this test is a CD supplement June 24, 2008 This was my favorite of three test prep books for the MAT. It had challenging but varied questions and really explained the types of questions and frequency of those types on the test - which instantly helped me answer a few more correctly.
best MAT book June 8, 2008 This is a ridiculous test that you basically can't study for -- but this book has more practise tests than the others. The test hasn't changed in 50 years, so there's no need to buy a "new" addition. But this one.
Big Help 2nd Time Taking the MAT April 11, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I wish I would have used this guide studying the first time around. I was pressed for time both times taking the MAT and used the ARGO guide the first time. By the time I got to the last practice test in Barron's, I was scoring an 87. I basically studied for 5 days before the test and ended up scoring a 65th percentile, which was fine with me since my major required 50th percentile. I'm positive if I had more time I could have done much better but was quite happy with my score. I agree with another post that the actual MAT seemed easier than Barron's. If you don't have much time to study, do all the practice tests, and brush up on your vocabulary. Admittedly, I found the ARGO appendices more helpful for quick brush ups on Greek Mythology, etc. Tip: try your local library before buying the guide. I saved myself some money there.
How to Prepare for the MAT: Miller Anlalogie Test (Barron's How to Prepare for the MAT Miller Analogies Test) April 4, 2007 This book proved to be an excellent study guide to help prepare for the MAT's. The test questions along with Historical, Literature and Grammar reviews helped me to prepare for the MAT.
