Product Description
Mackenzie Allen Philips' youngest daughter, Missy, has been abducted during a family vacation and evidence that she may have been brutally murdered is found in an abandoned shack deep in the Oregon wilderness. Four years later in the midst of his Great Sadness, Mack receives a suspicious note, apparently from God, inviting him back to that shack for a weekend. Against his better judgment he arrives at the shack on a wintry afternoon and walks back into his darkest nightmare. What he finds there will change Mack's world forever. In a world where religion seems to grow increasingly irrelevant "The Shack" wrestles with the timeless question, "Where is God in a world so filled with unspeakable pain?" The answers Mack gets will astound you and perhaps transform you as much as it did him. You'll want everyone you know to read this book!

1 out of 5 stars boring   October 13, 2008
I hated this book. I think it is one of the most stupid books I have ever read. I couldn't finish it..It ruined ladybugs for me!! I used to love ladybugs , collected them, etc. So this writer decides the killer has a title, "little lady killer" ekk.. And God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit , are ridiculous the way this is written.. I know Christians have made God almost humanlike ..Only Jesus was human and I can't see him seeing a little girl being snatched, riding in a truck with a maniac and is" just there in spirit" comforting her ,but let her be murdered!! O PLEASSSSSSSSSSS.. This trinity is toooo folksey and happy go lucky , when horrible things are happening around them..GEESH!! This book is disgusting..!!

5 out of 5 stars Meet you at The Shack   October 13, 2008

I highly recommend this book. We have a book study with ten women at our church, and all of us are enjoying The Shack. Two of the women met the author, William Paul Young, at a book signing. They were very impressed with him.

I would suggest you read and discuss this book with someone so that you will understand why the book was written. It was the author's purpose to write this book for his family only, but it caught on like a wildfire!

Imagine what it would be like to meet the Trinity (God the Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit) in the Shack! Read the book and experience it for yourself!

5 out of 5 stars Great book about God   October 13, 2008

I had a tough decision to make regarding how to treat another person. A friend recommend I read this book before making my decision. This book looks at life from God's point of view, dealing with many of the issues people face daily. I will be buying more copies as Christmas presents.

1 out of 5 stars Ugh!   October 13, 2008

A friend loaned me this book and I knew I was in trouble when all of the glowing reports came from people working in the Christian community and none from a book reviewer. I am a non-Christian so the theology discussions other reviewers are having is meaningless to me. I read a lot of books on a lot of different subjects and this one had poor writing, poor plot developement and a dreadful ending. The author should have left the thesaurus on the shelf and written an essay.

5 out of 5 stars Nice Shack   October 13, 2008

Certainly an engaging story. While there were occasional times when I raised my theological eyebrows, I found it mostly to be a wonderful blessings. I would recommend it.
