Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
'It is a truth universally acknowledged that a zombie in possession of brains must be in want of more brains.' So begins Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, an expanded edition of the beloved Jane Austen novel featuring all-new scenes of bone-crunching zombie mayhem. As our story opens, a mysterious plague has fallen upon the quiet English village of Meryton and the dead are returning to life! Feisty heroine Elizabeth Bennet is determined to wipe out the zombie menace, but she's soon distracted by the arrival of the haughty and arrogant Mr. Darcy. What ensues is a delightful comedy of manners with plenty of civilized sparring between the two young lovers and even more violent sparring on the blood-soaked battlefield as Elizabeth wages war against hordes of flesh-eating undead. Can she vanquish the spawn of Satan? And overcome the social prejudices of the class-conscious landed gentry? Complete with romance, heartbreak, swordfights, cannibalism, and thousands of rotting corpses, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies transforms a masterpiece of world literature into something you'd actually want to read.

1 out of 5 stars Get rich quick...   November 21, 2009
Erin Worley (Kansas)
I really hoped that this book would be the wonderfully funny regency era novel that everyone says it is. As far as I can tell, Seth Graham-Smith needed some extra money, and out-and-out reprinting the book with his name in the author's spot would have been plaigirism. I hoped that they would expand on the zombie theme, but they don't. They don't figure out what caused the zombies, how to cure the zombies, or kill all the zombies. The zombies really have no bearing on the plot at all. I also agree that the "ball jokes" are just strange. It took me a while to grasp that they actually were supposed to be jokes... In short, don't waste your time with this book. However, I could use a little extra money for Christmas. Anyone up for Sense and Sensibility and Werewolves? :)

1 out of 5 stars Disappointing   November 21, 2009
Amanda R. (California)
Not only is it terribly written, but it's also really damned boring. Don't bother with this book.

1 out of 5 stars disappointing   November 20, 2009
BeachGirl (st louis)
i love jane austen and pride and prejudice particularly. i can quote extensive sections of the book and have watched the bbc movie countless times. in short, i am a fan. P&P&Z is a travesty. the author cut and pasted a new book out of a classic with little regard for the flow of the story or the integrity of the idea. the concept is intriguing but the execution was terrible. it's not even a good mockery or satire. it's just silly and a waste of time. get it from the library, if you must, but certainly don't spend money on it!

3 out of 5 stars zombies . . .   November 20, 2009
N. Burt (Wisconsin)
This is Pride is Pride and Prejudice you know and love plus zombies. On a whole this some how works and doesn't seem like two completely different books. However, some of what I love about the original (such as the original motivations) of the characters is lost. Overall, this is an interesting and well executed book.

4 out of 5 stars Finally Read A Jane Austen Book   November 19, 2009
Brent Bernasconi (San Diego, CA)
Most of the book (about 90% from what I have read) stays true to the original story. However, the addition of the zombies made me want to read my first ever Jane Austen novel. This combination of a classic novel and the undead, in my opinion, is the perfect way to get school children (especially the boys) to read the classics. I would of read and actually finished this book in high school.

The novel can still be a bit dry but just keep reading for plenty of zombie battles and even ninjas. I am hoping for the film version.
