Product Description Insidious. The decades-old campaign to erode our fundamental right to keep and bear arms has been one of misrepresentation and outright deceit. Perpetuated by self-appointed progressive social engineers and Utopian idealists, the incremental disarmament of American citizens, through legislation, litigation and cultural bigotry has become a serious threat to liberty and personal safety. Assault on Weapons reveals the history of the gun prohibition movement, a politically-motivated elitist effort built on myths, distortions and lies. Following their successful collaborations on America Fights Back: Armed Self-Defense in a Violent Age and These Dogs Don t Hunt: The Democrats War on Guns, authors Alan Gottlieb and Dave Workman are back again with a hard-hitting expose that dismantles the campaign to destroy the Second Amendment.

"Not part of the flock" January 13, 2010 Mr John Haueisen (WORTHINGTON, OHIO United States) 4 out of 6 found this review helpful
"America is at a crossroads, and we must decide whether we are a nation of men or a nation of sheep. Gun owners have already made that decision, and have concluded that in a world of sheep, they are not part of the flock." Assault on Weapons goes on to show, chapter by chapter, the history of and reasons behind the gun banning movement.
Here are some other quotes from the book, which will demonstrate the types of ideas to be found in this book:
"Firearms owners are the only remaining social group in America against whom it is perfectly acceptable to practice social bigotry, often to the extreme."
Thomas Jefferson: "When the Government fears the people, there is liberty. When the people fear the Government, there is tyranny."
VS.
Representative Henry Waxman: "If someone is so fearful that, that they're going to start using their weapons to protect their rights, makes me very nervous that these people have these weapons at all!"
Assault on Weapons goes on to explain in detail, the tactics used by gun banners, and tactics to combat them. This final quote is another illustration of the points made by the authors: their definition of gun prohibitionists:
"what they want is the `perfect' society on their terms, by their definition. It would be a society without challenge and without risk, where rugged individualism may be an unpleasant memory, and self-determination a trait to be avoided so as to not upset an orderly community.
Perhaps it would be good even for those who think they are against gun ownership to read this.

If I were an instructor at a local college or university teaching principles of constitutional law I would definitly consider the information contained therein as one of the prime sources for my class instruction. It's not to force my ideas on a group of students, but to ask my students on all sides of the gun and related issues what they believe, but more importantly why they believe what they believe. We need independent thinkers, not people who just accept any form of indoctrination from their instructors. The points brought up in this publication are a good start to achieving these goals, and getting away from what I call "Progressive Indoctrination" in the classroom. A great instruction source.
Assult on the Second Amendment November 24, 2009 Larry L. Peterson (Portage, MI) 5 out of 7 found this review helpful
Pretty good book, all things considered. The author does present relevent information on "the right to keep and bare arms" albeit information that has been circulating for awhile. The author does some repeating of information later in the book that was covered early on, which I feel was done to make the book longer. All in all "Assult on Weapons" was a fairly decent read, with lots of information on the agenda of the "gun grabbers", and what to look out for as the assult on the Second Amendment continues from the liberal media to the liberal legislature.
Assault on weapons November 13, 2009 Larry D. Baker (Rapid City, SD) 9 out of 11 found this review helpful
Everyone in the united States, should read this book. It might change their minds, about the evil of guns. Guns are not evil, only the people who use them to commit atrocities on others; are evil. Such as the radical Muslim, who used them to kill and injure; our troops at Ft. Hood. Of course, the politically correct retards; will blame the guns. If the liar-in-chief (Bill Clinton) hadn't given an executive order, to make all military bases gun-free zones; it never would have ended as it did.
Assault on Weapons - review from El Cajon, CA November 11, 2009 Jimmy W. De Marco (El Cajon, CA USA) 4 out of 10 found this review helpful
I found the book to be very informative. I have a far better understanding now just how the attempts to take our 2nd amendment rights away from us.
