4 out of 5 stars Charming and adorable felted creatures to craft   March 1, 2010
Carol S. (Pennsylvania)
A charming book, filled with lots of adorable creatures to create using wool felt. I am mainly a knitter, but this book definitely has tempted me to experiment with making felted items. You'll find animals, people, and more, although the finished items are designed to be teeny-tiny. Each pattern comes with instructions for lots of thoughtful details & embellishment. It would be nice if there were a few more patterns in the book, but overall it's adorable, inspiring and fun.

5 out of 5 stars A novel and highly recommended addition to personal and community library needlecraft reference collections   February 13, 2010
Midwest Book Review (Oregon, WI USA)
Felt has long been a standard and versatile material for crafts projects. In "Felties: How to Make 18 Cute and Fuzzy Friends", Nelly Pailloux presents a series of do-it-yourself projects, each of which can be accomplished in approximately fifteen minutes by even the most novice of neelecrafters. These colorful creations are laid out in easy-to-follow profusely illustrated pattern diagrams complete with step-by-step, instructions. Of special note are the informative sidebars that accompany the projects. From a Samurai Cat, to a Russian Babushka, to a Stargazing Rabbit, these fun and 'user friendly' felt crafts projects are highly recommended for all ages of sewing enthusiasts. "Felties" is a novel and highly recommended addition to personal and community library needlecraft reference collections.

4 out of 5 stars Adorable little felt craft....for kids and adults alike   January 28, 2010
LG (CA)
This is a lovely book full of great pictures. The directions are easy to follow and well written(nice patterns too). My kids and I are always looking for new crafts and this was a fun one. We really liked the dolls and I just took the pattern and made the feltie a little bigger for my younger child. The more detailed work required my help but we enjoyed working together.

The felties are really cute attached to gifts, wine bottles, mini Christmas tree ornaments etc. Sew a ribbon on the back or use cotton floss to attach to gifts. You can also use the cute ideas for aplique on pillows. Felt-away....

4 out of 5 stars Hard to decide which one is cutest!   January 19, 2010
J. Villeneuve (Newtown, CT USA)
As I flipped through this book with my 8 and 6 year old daughters, they would exclaim with each page: "I'm making that one! It's so cute!" only to repeat the phrase for almost every page after that. There are a lot of awfully cute little "Felties" and they make a good craft for the girls to have some fun creating things. Many of them are a little too much for youngsters who can't quite get all the embellishments exactly as pictured, but they had fun taking creative liberties with their creations.

If you don't have a good "craft closet" with lots of starting materials, the book and materials can set you back a few bucks to get started. If you intend to have this be a fun craft time enterprise, I think it's worth it. If you are a serious felter, I am sure you can turn out masterpieces worthy of gift giving, but that wasn't the case in my house!

The first 15 minutes of looking through the book and seeing how excited the girls were was worth getting the book. The actual craft time and end result "Felties" were just a bonus.

4 out of 5 stars adorable and easy to make!   January 5, 2010
Lorel Shea (New England)
Sewing required for Felties is basic enough that my nine year old can do it with little trouble, and the designs are very winsome. My little girls think Felties are wonderful. We found that it's fun to make the various characters with different colors of felt and embroidery floss. Features can also be changed slightly to form different facial expressions. Good quality felt works better than the thinner, cheaper stuff. All in all, a fun way to spend time and produce some sweet handmade treasures!
