A hollow, plastic drawing surface (11.5 by 8.5 inches) floats above your child's lap--or can be attached to wall tiles via suction cups on its under side. An easel, voila! Four included Crayola bathtub crayons provide vibrant colors that make bathing the body as fun as bathing the senses. The manufacturer claims the Crayons are non-toxic and non-staining, so safety should not be an issue. I just bought the Crayola Floating Art Desk for my four-year-old son. I filled the tub, he got in. I set the "Floating Art Desk" down and he immediately took it and sank it. It then suctioned to the bottom of the tub. My four-year-old son pulled it up - but the suction cups pulled out of it and became stuck to the bottom of the tub. I pulled them off, but cannot stick them back into this "Floating Art Desk".
The crayons mushed the first time we tried to use them.
His interest lasted about five minutes with this thing since everything keeps disintegrating and breaking every time he touches it.
How sad that the Crayola Company isn't what it used to be.

I was looking for something for my darling 1 year old daughter to enjoy in the bathtub. She loves this toy and helps her with developing her gross and fine motor skills. The only down side is that the crayons get a bit "mushy" after a bit of time in the water. But it the Baby Einstein crayons are a good replacement...which are inexpensive as well. I look forward to many "Van Gogh"s from her.

I am not one of those parents who have trouble getting my child in the bath, its getting him out that's the problem. With the crayons he absolutely loves coloring on the walls in the tub the pallet was useless when he figured out that the tub was just one huge canvas.
Personally I think these are some of the best tub toys! My suggestion is to just buy the crayons and forget the pallet. You can also use them in the pool and if you have a vinyl siding house and your children have sprinkler, it also makes a great place to color. Be careful to wash everything off before it dries.

I brought this item for my son as a gift for his second birthday and he absolutely loves it! The crayons dont stain your tub or walls and its very easy to clean. Wonderful item for bath time fun.

My son, who just turned two, heartily enjoys this toy.
The only major complaint I have about it is that while it has compartments on both sides of the "canvas" for storing the crayons, those compartments are not easy for me to open, much less a 2-year old. The compartments have an indentation where one is presumably supposed to squeeze and open the chamber, but it doesn't work so well for us. This has actually become a little maddening and frustrates my little one. A small quibble, but it would be great if this toy were slightly modified to make the compartments a little easier to get in to.
