Sing-Along-Mike December 28, 2008 I was dissapointed with this product. I am giving only two stars for the look and the recording idea. You can sing along with the song, record your voice when singing, but it will not record the all song just half. When using the microphone you can not hear your voice, which I was very dissapointed, that is not fun and I ended up returning this item. I bought cheap microphone ($1.50) from Target and it has an "Echo" built in it and we are much happier.
Just bought this for 9.95 elsewhere... December 13, 2008 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I looked around before placing my order with Amazon and found out that the exact same product is being sold at sensationalbeginnings.com for 9.95 (!) and just bought it through there.
A lot of fun! November 18, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
My 2 year old loves this microphone. I got one for $.50 at a yard sale and it's been a hit. The only problem is that I think the part that keeps the batteries snug so they work has gotten loose and the microphone sometimes doesn't work. So I decided to get her another one since she loves it so much. I couldn't believe how much these stores on Amazon are charging for it. How crazy! I just found it at Target for $8.99!!!!!!! Shop around!
Does it amplify or doesn't it? October 27, 2008 8 out of 9 found this review helpful
I was very confused reading the reviews (doesn't amplify) and the product description ("really works" "amplifies"), so here's the scoop: When you press the green star, it works like a microphone, it amplifies. When you push the yellow record button, it amplies as the kid records his voice. When you use the music button, however, the music plays through the speaker and therefore it can't amplify the kids voice also. Doesn't seem to bother my kids. Regardless, the best part of this microphone for my son (4) is that it records his & plays his voice with the easy push of two buttons. That's what he uses it for all day long and loves it. It is quite pricey and doesn't look like an expensive toy, so I'm not sure about giving it as a present, but it's a great buy for your own kids.
Toy is fantastic, but this price seems high August 21, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this for my son a year ago, when he was about 2. He loves it! He does a cute little "rocker" dance and sings skip to my lou. He's taken it to his school, and his friends (up to age 6) love it, too.
I like that: -It doesn't amplify. I know that's a sticking point for some, but I think the less noise, the better. The kids don't seem to care. Also, the overall volume of the mic is appropriate for kids, not too loud. -It records. This is a cute feature, and very novel for the kids. -It isn't "commercial." I was looking for another one of these mics at Target for one of his friends for her birthday since she loves to play with his - couldn't find it, could only find Hannah Montana and other licensed stuff. I prefer to keep the expensive licensing stuff out of our lives for as long as I can (realistically, I know it isn't long - but I'm enjoying it while it lasts). -The songs can be slowed or sped up - good for younger kids still learning the words, and fast is good for older kids goofing around (includes Skip to My Lou, If You're Happy and You Know It, London Bridge, and Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes). -Buttons easy for kids to use, batteries seem to last.
No real drawbacks I've seen, and we've had it awhile. Seems sturdy. Should be priced around $15, I think that's what I paid but maybe I caught a sale.
