Product Description
The First Years Air-Flow Adjustable Sleeper PositionerThe American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that babies sleep on their side or back to reduce the risk of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). The Air-Flow Back Sleeper helps keep your baby in the proper sleeping position with two rounded frames that adjust with self-fastener strips to accommodate your growing baby. This product allows for maximum breathability and minimum heat buildup, while keeping baby comfortably in position throughout the night. Ventilated frames allow air to flow through cushion, and fabric design features a stars and moon theme in neutral styling to fit with any nursery decor. The size is adjustable and it's washable and dryable. Up to 6 months.

Editorial Review
The Air Flow Sleep Positioner helps keep baby on her back or her side, the positions recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics to reduce the risk of SIDS. Two rounded frames providing support are hollow, allowing for the free flow of air. Adjust the self-fastener strips so that the positioner is just wide enough for baby to lie in. Place it in the crib, and lay baby down on her back or side, with the positioner placed below her arms. The soft fabric cover is comfortable and helps baby feel snug and secure. --Terri Shea

1 out of 5 stars Unnecessary and less safe   March 2, 2010
H. Carter
I didn't buy this; a friend lent it to me along with her Moses basket. I only tried the sleep positioner a few times, and then put it away. (The Moses basket was used till the baby outgrew it.)

The reasons I didn't like it? Foam - even breathable - so close to the baby's face made me nervous. If he turned his head to the side, his face could be pressed against it, restricting his airflow. He also didn't seem to find it that comfortable.

Once I discovered the velcro swaddling blankets there were no issues with the baby wriggling to his side or front until he was old enough to move around properly. They kept him feeling secure, warm, and safe. The sleep positioner did none of these. Don't waste your money buying something which (as I discovered later) is not as "safe" nor as "good" as advertized.

5 out of 5 stars Great for treating flat head syndrome / plagiocephaly   February 28, 2010
C. Wilson
Our 5-month old's neurologist recommended to use a sleep positioner to help him sleep on the less-favored side of his head, allowing the head to round out. We have tried a few products, and this one works the best for keeping him in position without wiggling out of the positioner.

The material is extremely breathable, so we are not worried about overheating. The wedges are adjustable with velcro and stay securely in position. They can be folded inwards to change the angle of the wedge's incline.

We have found that the best way to use the product for treating his head shape is this: The two wedge pieces are kind of pointy, so we fold one point in (like this: >) and leave the other in vertical position (like this: ^). We set the baby's back/shoulder (not head) on the folded-over (>) wedge so that he will favor the round side of the back of the head. His other side rests just inside the vertical (^) wedge so that he won't slide out of the positioner. It has worked quite well--highly recommended!

1 out of 5 stars Unsafe Product   December 29, 2009

Please do your research before purchasing this or any other sleep positioner that claims to reduce the risk of SIDS. Pillows, wedges, and positioning devices are not recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics or Consumer Reports. They have not been adequately tested to support their claim of reducing the risk of SIDS and may even increase the risk of suffocation. (the device itself can become a barrier to the baby's breathing) Babies are safest when placed on their backs in a crib with no soft bedding, pillows, or toys around. Usually when babies are old enough to roll over on their own, they are past the most critical period for SIDS (2-4 months).

4 out of 5 stars good product   September 14, 2009
mommy2009 (san jose, CA USA)
pretty good product. it kept our daughter from flipping over. we tried to keep her on her back and it worked for awhile, then she got older and bigger. it is expected that she got too strong for it, that it was not helping anymore. but it did what it was supposed to do when she was younger, so i highly recommend it for younger babies.

5 out of 5 stars Solid & Safe   September 14, 2009
R. Zentz (PA)
I use this product to create a snuggle nest out of our daughters bassinet mattress for co-sleeping. What I like about it most is that it is solid which makes it not a smothering hazard. It is soft on the outside but not too soft that it is a hazard. Easy to care for - wash and dry care. Still looks new in spite of frequent washings. Lastly, I like the air holes on the ends as well because it doesn't get too hot, which can also be a SIDS hazard. I would recommend this product to a friend.
