Product Description
Interval workouts have become an important part of any solid training regimen. The Top Contender Interval Timer provides many options to fit your individual training requirements. Round lengths can be set to 2, 3, or 4 minutes. Rest periods can be set to 15, 30, 45, or 60 seconds. Intervals can be set to 15, 30, 45, 60 seconds, or no interval. To eliminate confusion, different sounds indicate the beginning or end of the round and the interval.

4 out of 5 stars Convenient and compact   September 8, 2008
I've read other reviews where people complained about their ring timers not being loud. Rest assured, you will NOT have a problem with the volume on this thing. It is extremely loud. Actually I wish there was a way to adjust the volume, because for the small space I workout in, it's too loud.

It's got very basic operation. The work switch adjust from the Off position to several lengths of time to work. When the work cycle is up, it has a VERY LOUD vaguely similar to a "bell" sound that lets you know the round is over. The rest cycle kicks in at this point, adjustable from 15 seconds up to 60 seconds. I haven't tried intervals yet, but I'm guessing that when the round is over the interval cycle kicks in.

It's very small, about the size of a large clock radio, but it seems to be constructed pretty well, because it's heavy for its size. I'd recommend this for a home gym, and maybe for real gyms too, if they have multiple activities happening in the same space and need distinct sounds for members to follow.

5 out of 5 stars Easy operation   November 24, 2007
User friendly, extremely portable and plenty of options for basic classes. Great customer service!

4 out of 5 stars Interval timer is awesome   September 24, 2007
This timer is great. For the price I think this is a great value. Other timers I've seen have the same features as this timer and cost quite a bit more. I'm not saying it's perfect, but for the price, you can't beat it. The interval sound is not as distinctive as I would like, but you do get used to the difference.
