Works Good November 30, 2008 These batteries work very well. I cannot understand people giving this product bad reviews due to their own lack of research and skills. I guess they think they are replacing flashlight batteries. There is a web site called [...]and if you input what you are looking for you can find out how to do things with the product you want. By doing your research you will not have to give bad reviews just because you lack the knowledge to properly repair simply things.
Quality over price November 16, 2008 I agree with a previous reviewer. When it comes to Ni-Cad batteries, don't skimp on the price a few bucks; choose the original manufacturer's replacement. It is enough of a task to solder the battery in, so you don't want to do it often. I used a pencil soldering iron to heat the solder on the battery tabs and bend them straight while applying slight pulling pressure on the battery to pull the battery and tabs out out of the circuit board. Now I have a like new razor again that I charge once a week at most. It was an expensive razor so the effort was well worth it.
Works to power razor October 1, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Like other reviewers have said, this is not a drop in battery. You must remove the previous battery pack and install this one with solder.
Remove the two screws on on the back of the razor (one is under the flip up for the trimmer). What I did was break the leads off the old battery. A little wiggling will do this. Remove the old battery pack. Carefully lift up the circuit board in the handle that the battery is attached to. The connection to the motor does not look real strong. Unsolder the leads left from the old battery. Make sure to get all the solder out of the holes. Install the new battery pack. Solder the leads of the new battery. Put the circuit board back in. Close the case and screw it back together.
Mine had a little charge in it. I would recommend charging it up for a while before really using it though.
Good product if you have solder skills August 3, 2008 I thought I could solder but while applying heat I broke the copper bands that connect to the circuit board breaking the razor completly and making the new battery useless. Take heed to the other comments regarding soldering. I just dumped everything into a plastic baggie and put it up on the shelf... if I actually believed in evolution it may repair itself - but I don't so I just went out and bought another Norelco. In 10 or so years, when the battery in it goes - I'll head to the store and buy another shaver. Good shaver but bad battery design ;-(.
ez unless you're chicken... July 3, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
brought my shaver back to life... easy to take the shaver apart... unsolder the old battery... don't use a wicking wire because will have to add too much heat to remove the old solder (a necessary thing to do when soldering to a printed ckt board.).. spend another [...] on a Soldapult Desoldering Pump --> [...] use as little heat as necessary to solder the new battery in place. Mine is working perfectly-- and since original battery lasted over 7 years, I bet I am good for at least that much longer yet again...
