Great Fun November 3, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I downloaded the demo of this game and another NBA09 Live from Sony's Playstation Store about two weeks ago. We tried both demos several times. I deleted the other almost immediately as it just did not play as well (IMHO) as this one. My two sons and I played the demo over and over. The periods in it are only 1 minute in length but you have a full four and it is two player. I have a 65" Mitsubishi DLP and the graphics are astounding for a PS3 game. I had to have the actual game and bought it last week. I can not say it does not have a glitch now and then but for the overall, it is amazing. I think it is much better than the other demo of NBA09 and better in graphics and gameplay than NBA08 Live. BTW my one son is six years old and he is fantastic when he plays this game. It is his favorite PS3 game and he just loves beating the pants off of dad. My wife agrees also, of the three games, this is the best. If you like basketball games, give the demo a try and see for yourself.
Too many glitches October 23, 2008 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
Starting off with the glitches- This game has way too many glitches. One player on your team will stop moving and can remain that way for the whole game, or sometimes he will unfreeze a little sooner, this will usually occur at least every other game you play. You can be on one end of the court and your opponent with the ball can be on the other and all of a sudden you get a reach in foul(with NO ONE in site). Also for example pierce could be on one end of the court and pass it all the way down court with none other than pierce retrieving his own pass, which can take realism out of the game.
Game play- the game play is decent the graphics are really good. Getting an assist in the game is nearly impossible which will make the life game play hard to win. Even an ally oop won't count towards an assist sometimes.
Franchise- Franchise is a little to plain. It would be nice to set ticket prices and even practice on off games, which you can't do in this game.
The life- The life is fun although really short. You must complete missions such as get 4 assists with PG, or get 3 two point jumpers with PG.
There is also a team progression system that will add points to your profile where you can then buy attribute points, sneakers, tattoos, wrist and head bands.
Overall in my opinion the graphics are in 2009 standards but the game could generally be a lot better. Price wise i wouldn't pay $[...] for it if I could go back. Id say mostly worth $[...] in order for me to buy again.
